Every time I try to log into Xfinity (Comcast) from FireFox, I get the dreaded "username or password is incorrect" response.

I can use the EXACT same username and password and log in easily, via Chrome or Edge. But with Firefox, it does not work. I've cleared cookies and cache. I've tried using a private window. I've tried letting Lastpass fill in the stuff for me, I've tried typing it in myself, and still Xfinity does not recognize me if I'm using FireFox, but it works just fine with any other browser. I am so frustrated.

Every time I try to log into Xfinity (Comcast) from FireFox, I get the dreaded "username or password is incorrect" response. I log into xfinity without a problem. I go to my watched movies and shows. I click to see the episodes. I see the episodes. I click on the one I want to watch. Up comes the usual screen that shows it's loading, but it never loads. And I can't stop it from trying. Have to close the browser window. It is not a problem on Chrome. I called Comcast support. They excalated me all the way to level three. That guy said, because it worked on Chrome after flash updated, that the problem was that flash wasn't updating automatically, but I have the latest version of Firefox.

OK, I was looking at other related posts on these forums and found a solution. I changed the Xfinity Connect to the Lite version in IE. Once inside my inbox in Firefox I changed it back to the Full version and still able to get into my inbox. So it looks like it is a problem on Comcast's end of it. Thanks for your time. You can try these basic steps in case of issues with web pages: Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files. Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux) Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac) Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems. "Clear the Cache": Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now" "Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems: Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies" Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance). Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window. https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Safe+Mode https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes

You can remove all data stored in Firefox for a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History -> Show All History" or "View -> Sidebar -> History").

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox for this domain like history and cookies and passwords and exceptions and cache, so be cautious. If you have a password or other data for that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of involved files.

If you revisit a 'forgotten' website then data for that website will be saved once again.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

If clearing cookies didn't help then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file in the Firefox profile folder that stores the cookies got corrupted.

  • rename/remove cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and when present delete cookies.sqlite-shm and cookies.sqlite-wal in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed in case cookies.sqlite got corrupted.
