When I tried to upgrade my 46.0.1 version to version 47.0 it seemed to complete correctly. When Firefox went to open after the upgrade, I received the following error message: couldn't load XPCOM. The are numerous people in my company who are receiving the same error message. I have tried all of the fixes on this support site and none of them has fixed the problem. I have uninstalled, removed the program folder, removed the folders in the %appdata%/roaming and local folders and rebooted. I still get the same message when I try and reinstall Firefox. I have tried the stub and full installers and I get the same error every time.

hi, what kind of security software are you using in that corporate environment?

We are using a product called Cylance.

Deleting the Firefox program folder and doing a full (re)install of the current release should be sufficient to install Firefox properly.

You can try to reboot the computer after deleting the Firefox program folder or boot the computer in Safe Mode if there are still problems and confirm that the folder is gone.

You can find the full version of the current Firefox release (47.0) in all languages and all operating systems here:

As I stated when I opened this question, removing and reinstalling isn't fixing the problem. I have removed every Firefox folder I can find, rebooted and then tried to install and I still get the error of Couldn't load XPCOM.

I have used the stub and full installers and I keep getting the same results. This is happening to multiple computers in the company. There must be something wrong with this version of Firefox.

this error message is often occurring when the firefox process is somehow sandboxed and cannot access its necessary components. could you try to temporarily disable your security solution (or try to add firefox to a whitelisted/trusted program section in case it has such a thing) and see if this could make a difference?
