Toolbar and bookmarks disappear
Suddenly after years of use my toolbar and bookmarks suddenly disappeared. I reinstalled Mozilla and it kept happening. They would come and go. It finally stopped when I signed up for your "sync" option. When I go to the add-ons and hit the options tab my computer locks up. All was well until upon opening the browser this morning and I was greeted with a pitch about a new program -Hello and guess what? All my bookmarks and the toolbar is missing again........Since the add-on manager doesn't work (although the toolbar appears to be enabled) I have no tools in which to correct the problem.

Your Adobe programs are out of date.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac Options) key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?
You may have a corrupt xulstore.json file. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/changes-toolbars-and-window-sizes-are-not-saved
Thanks but I keep all my software up to date. My wife has the exact same problem so it is something with Mozilla and or Yahoo. Actually I just re-pinned the tools icons onto Firefox and for my bookmarks - Evernote is a much better platform for web clips. Besides Mozilla would crash when I would go into them and attempt to retrieve a bookmark.
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.

- Places Maintenance: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/places-maintenance/
If you use Sync then best is to disconnect Sync while performing maintenance/repair efforts to the places.sqlite database.
