i can't log in to steam from firefox, while i can login just fine using steam client internal browser.

after i fill out my username and password on steam login page, the login button doesn't respond at all, i tried pressing enter and still no go, i think i can still login when i was on firefox 16.

and i have tried clean uninstall firefox 17 and then reinstalling it again, and it still wont work at all.

i've tried disabling my addon, cos i thought maybe some of the addons is causing issue, but still nothing.

addons that i used are adblock plus, better privacy and password manager.

please fix this, cause steam client internal browser are too slow.

This can be caused by corrupted cookies or cookies that aren't send or otherwise blocked.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

thanks for trying to help,

but, 1st of all, i already tried clearing cache and deleting the cookies that is related to it, and i didn't use custom themes.

and from your reply, i've tried : 1. disabling hardware acceleration = the issue still persist

2. starting in safe mode = the issue still exist.

and i've also tried the old firefox 3.6.28, the version from before the current stable, the latest beta, and the latest nightly build (of course after i clean uninstall my current installation of firefox), and i still can't login.

then i tried to login using internet explorer, and somehow i can login using internet explorer.

so for now i'm stuck using internet explorer, even thought i didn't like using internet explorer.

please fix this immediately.

ps : i've tried to get help from other person, but it seems they all just suggest that i used google chrome, but i hated chrome more than i hated IE, so i wont use chrome at all.

i suddenly able to login again from firefox, i didn't even do anything, and i was just finished playing a game, and decided to try to login again to steam on firefox, and suddenly the button responded, and now i have logon to steam on my firefox.

i really don't know why it acted that way earlier, just like i said before, changing into all different version of firefox didn't do anything, and the login button did not respond at all.

i hope that today's event wont repeat again, because it will cause me to unable to buy games on any sale that steam might do.

I had the same or a similar problem, but the solution was pretty simple. By force of habit, I had blocked cookies from steamcommunity.com and store.steampowered.com - that was what prevented my login from working. Going to Tools -> Options -> Privacy -> Exceptions allowed me to remove the block on the cookies, and Steam's website then worked fine. It would be nice if there was some dialog to see what cookies are being silently blocked on a given webpage because of user settings. Maybe such a thing exists, but my version of Firefox is too old, or I have not found the correct add-on yet.

Hello,

I had the same problem two minutes ago, but I have found a solution. Simply use the Community login page and then switch to store.

http://steamcommunity.com/

Hope that helps you and those who found this thread with google like I did, Ragnarous

@Ragnarous : thanks, i can finally login to my steam website, i hope this is a permanent solution and not a temporary solution, seems like the issue could be on steam end, but i'm too lazy to open up a support ticket, because steam support quality is 1 out of 10.

the last time i tried to get help from support, they just replied me with bot or they close my ticket without replying.

Get help for Steam support is the last thing you should do. Try the community you will get instantly hundreds of replies telling you what to do. I guess same goes for Mozilla... By the time you open a ticket it gets in a queue of 20,000 other tickets opened by gamers all around the world. That's why they reply in a month or more...

6 million steam users is a lot...

seems like steam now separate the login for the community and store,

because the site showed that i'm logged on in steam community,

but not logged on in steam store, does steam doesn't want my money or what ?

one of my fav game is on weekend deal right now, i want to buy the DLC for it, but how can i do that if i can't even log in ?

And if you login in the community page and then click Store? Doesn't work? Works for me...

if you read my comments carefully, you can understand that,

1. i have successfully login to steam from steam community

2. at first it also showed that i'm also logged in to the store

3. but after a while (because i rarely goes to steam), it showed that i'm still logged in on steam community, but when i goes to steam store, it doesn't show that i'm logged in.

4. and on the store page, the top right corner, show the login button instead of my name, even if when i go to steam community, the community page will show that i'm logged in.

well i hope that my explanation is clear enough.

Sometimes even I get logged out (for unknown reasons) and I have to do all this again. If you have adblock disable it on steam (like I did - there are no ads there but some features are blocked because they are flash). Maybe if you clear Cache + Cookies this will be finally resolved. Hope that this helps :)
