I have an iMac, 27 inch, mid-2010, with 16 gb memory and 3.2 ghz Intel Core i3. Mountain Lion is installed. Until recently Firefox was my default browser. I still use it for browsing, but not for email because trying to enter text in a new message has become frustrating. Keystrokes do not appear. Characters jump around. It's as though I have no control over the keyboard.

This ONLY happens in Firefox email. It ONLY has happened within the last month or so. But it makes Firefox email undependable and unusable. I have an iPad. I have an iPhone. All have Firefox. Email works on the iPad and iPhone, but NOT on the iMac.

I read of many other users with the same problem. What is going on with Firefox email? Please fix it! Until then I will find another email program, or as in this case, use email in Safari.

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  • Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.

Create a new profile to test if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.
