Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

You need close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

See:

Turn on telemetry so at least the information is reported and made available to developers.

Turn on Firefox Health Report (FHR) so that you see your own information about startup.

Experiment to see if any particular addon slows Firefox startup and if so consider enabling that addon when it is needed instead of at startup. ead the article linked above for other ideas.

Once FHR has been running a while it will graph your startup times. I am not sure what the startup time in the FHR graph is based on, but I guess it may be FirstPaint time. I note the average first paint time is about 3 seconds with most people between 2 and 8 seconds http://mzl.la/1kWpnhW (Those graphs may not look very good)

I'm not having problems with it connecting to the internet. Thanks for the help though!

It seems that it takes anywhere from 18 to 39 seconds. I got rid of a few add ons and noticed a 'slight' difference. But is there anyway i could compress them and make firefox faster?
