Why are there two folders, "junk" and "spam"?

All your help verbiage seems to treat them as one, but the program doesn't We have emails cycle from spam to inbox to spam, and the only way to deal with them is to delete them The inbox decides they are spam (how?) and does it repeatedly regardless of the various attempts to move them back to the inbox. There are no "not spam" action commands. Please get rid of the spam folder (classify everything as junk) or give us some management tools to direct emails to their proper location.

Hello,

I would like to change the icons of the star that are used to show messages as flagged and unflagged.

I have read in some posts that one can replace the icon files, but I cannot find any folder where they are stored. Where are the icon files stored in 128.5 on macOS (Macintosh)?

Is the process for replacing the icons as simple as replacing the icon files?

If you have replaced these icons, would you please tell me about your experience and give me your tips?

Hi there,

I recently switched to Thunderbird to track my multiple email accounts, but it is not letting me select text so I can copy-paste.

Each time I click and drag, it swipes to the next or previous email, depending on if I drag left or right.

I had a look through my settings but cannot find a way to stop it swiping to other emails. Double clicking to select the word and then the whole sentence does not work.

I had a dig through the Help Site but couldn't find a reference to this issue/setting.

How do I stop Thunderbird from swiping between emails so I can select text to copy?

I have a business domain with four email accounts at GoDaddy on Microsoft Outlook. I have a new laptop (Windows 11); when I set up Thunderbird for the accounts, three came in fine, but one does not connect to the server - the account on TB shows just an "Inbox" with no mail, no other folders. All the settings appear to be identical between the different accounts. What am I missing?

Since your last update, sending message by Thunderbird is problematic. When checking, the menu flashes quickly, out of all control. Impossible to cancel, send, correct. You can absolutely do nothing. After a while (2-3 minutes of this flashing and it's long...) The message is sent. Before updating, this problem did not exist. Please do the necessary to remedy this bug. Thank you for your help. Hi, I've been using Thunderbird for years. I have thousands of emails organized into folders based on at least 8 different email addresses. Today, all the mail from one of the folders disappeared, even though no intervention was made. The restore folder command didn't help either. The size shows 0 kb (it should contain many years of correspondence). I looked in the File explorer in the Profile folder, but both the cur and tmp folders are empty. It's not among the deleted items (of course I didn't delete them, I just checked there). I ran scandisk on the drive, no errors. I searched for email addresses in Thunderbird, it found emails from 2 years ago, but it could not display, it said "cannot be displayed". I have no more ideas. Please help me. Thanks.

interesting behavior with a CalDaV calendar entry/date.

Scenario: Create a calendar-entry (date) with an alarm-setting (1h before...). Wait until the new entry is synced to the CalDAV server, in my case a Nextcloud. Close TB. Got to the Nextcloud calendar, or to and other client with that CalDAV Calendar, and remove the alarm, I do frequently in case the date paste... Start TB. After sync of the calendar, TB is telling you, that the date was changed at the server and asked "how to handle the detected conflict" (see screenshot). But 1. it isn't a conflict, just a normal change, which should change the local, "old" date 2. acting on the conflict resolution by pressing the button "Skip changes, load new" (Änderungen verwerfen und neu laden), I'm expecting to get the server version exchanging the local, old one... It does not: The local version will stay with the alarm. These date will not sync to server until TB is restarted. The alarm is now back on the server.

If the alarm is removed at the server (or on another client) while TB is running, the alarm is removed locally as "normal" change by synchronization...

I guess it is a bug!?

I'm using TB Version 128.4.3esr; build-id: 20241108210256 on Windows 11 (64bit). But this is also with TB under Linux (ubuntu, mint)

All my archived mail simply disappeared. I don't remember 'where' it was exactly because the layout seems to have been changed. It might have been in a 'Local Folders' that has its own 'archive', where I can now put new mail I want to archive. Or it might have been in the 'Archives' in the Unified Folder's list (an equal to Junk and Trash etc).

I have verified the login information is correct. I have reinstalled with 128.5.1 esr. I have been using Tbird for years, the only thing that has changed is Tbird is not working.

This started about 2 days ago. I have changed nothing in my email account settings and MailWasher is able to download all new messages with identical account settings.

When I hit the Get Messages button, an Error Notice appears stating that "Connection to Server <my server details> has been interrupted." This Notice disappears pretty quickly so I can't capture it for you.

What is this referring to and how can I rectify the situation to enable me to receive New Messages? Although MailWasher can receive the new messages Ok, it is not a practical email client with which to manage my email correspondence.

What ever you can do to assist me with rectifying this will be greatly appreciated.

Delete function is almost non operative, ie Thunderbird 'seizes' for many minutes when trying to DELETE.

During November my Thunderbird client 128.5.1esr (and the previous release too) stop sending email with my employer Office365 account. I can download email (IMAP) but not send email. I get the following window after a few seconds (see screenshot below):

          Login to account "Microsoft 365" failed
          Login to server smtp.office365.com with username XXXXX failed.
          [ Enter New Password ]               [ Cancel ]. [ Retry ]

The password is correct but if I try to Enter a New Password, nothing happens. Retry displays the same window again. I see that many people had this problem in the past and I have tried all possible solutions to no avail (configuration is correct, deleting and creating the account again, etc.).
