Hello,

I run Thunderbird 146.01 under Windows 11 Version 10.0.22631 Build 22631... TB pulls messages from a POP Server.

Though I have tried many fixes TB keeps reverting to requiring that I manually run both Spam Sorting, and Filter Sorting, usually after running these functions automatically for about a week.

Might someone suggest a fix that will have some lasting benefit?

For as far back as I can remember I've been using Mozilla Thunderbird on a old computer running Windows 7. I've a Win10 machine here so a few months ago, I downloaded the latest Thunderbird and I was suprised to see it looked very different. After a bit of experimenting I managed to get it looking familiar so I uninstalled it with the intention of trying it again early in 2026 when I've a bit more free time, So this morning I installed the latest version but it looks even more different now :-(

I'm not sure how to attach images here but if it works, the original one looked like Capture01 and this morning's one is like Capture02. I still had my installer from a few months ago so I installed that one and it looks the same as today's one. Notice that there's no menu bar any more and AFAICT I can only view email headers and not their contents. Also, the 3 boxes at the top RHS (for sizing the window / minimizing it etc) don't work at all.

Is it me doing something wrong - or are there maybe some settings somewhere that I need to experiment with?

I am currently using Thunderbird 140.6.0esr (64-bit). Operating system is Windows10, my computer doesn't meet Windows11 requirements.

I use Thunderbird to receive messages from both my Orange.fr and Gmail.com accounts. I use the Message Filters tool on both accounts to sort the incoming messages into different folders to make it easier to follow threads. I have Thunderbird running in the background all the time that my computer is active.

The Thunderbird Icon on the taskbar is set to show new messages. It used to show the total of all incoming messages, but now (I think just since the latest update) it only shows those new messages that have remained in the main inbox of either account, any messages that have been sorted into sub-folders are not included in the number shown on the icon. This means that when I have been away from the computer leaving Thunderbird running I now have to enter Thunderbird to see if any new messages have been sorted rather than just glancing at the taskbar.

What setting have I missed or is this a "bug".

More an annoyance than big issue. Thanks in advance for any guidance you can provide.

Have been forwarding all my AOL mail to Thunderbird for years without problem.

About 2 wks ago, email with attachments stopped being forwarded. Emails without attachments are forwarded without problem. AOL says nothing changed on their end although I noted that the "Forwarding" tab no longer appears on their mail choice menue.

I would like to stop version 146.0.1 of Thunderbird from loading yahoo mail when executing Thunderbird in a annoying new window. Just started happening 01/05/2026. Thank you Jeff

Why are older emails disappearing from the Inbox? It didn't do this when I was using Windows 7SP1. Now I have Windows 11 and it seems the Oct and Nov emails I had have disappeared. Only Dec emails are in the Inbox.

I periodically get a T-bird notification "Server imap.gmail.com has disconnected". If I wait for 30 sec to a minute, the connection reconnects and everything is fine, until it does it again. If it disconnects in the middle of sending a message, the send action will freeze and perhaps, time-out if the disconnect time is too long. Any ideas about this periodic disconnection? I'm using version 128.9.2esr (32 bit) with Win10 pro.

Hi all, I'm experiencing persistent and reproducible segmentation fault crashes with both Thunderbird (versions 140.0.1, 141, and 142 tested) and Betterbird on Arch Linux. The crashes occur consistently within 30 seconds to 2 minutes of operation, making the application unusable.

System Configuration:

• Arch Linux (fully updated)
• KDE Plasma 6 on Wayland
• Multi-monitor setup using DisplayLink/evdi drivers
• Firefox works perfectly fine (no crashes)

What I've Already Tried:

• Fresh profiles (completely clean - crashes persist)
• Safe mode with add-ons disabled
• Disabling hardware acceleration (MOZ_DISABLE_RDD_SANDBOX=1, --disable-gpu)
• Software rendering mode
• Multiple Thunderbird versions (140, 141, 142)
• Alternative client (Betterbird) - same crashes
• Full system upgrade

All crashes show the same signature in libxul.so during startup/operation. The stack traces consistently point to Mozilla's threading/compositor code. Notably, Firefox using the same libxul.so library works without any issues, which suggests this is Thunderbird-specific.

I believe the issue is related to KWin compositor interaction with my multi-monitor DisplayLink (evdi) setup on Wayland. The crashes are specific to Thunderbird/Betterbird and do not occur with Firefox, despite them sharing core libraries. Note that this problem happens on both x11 and Wayland.

I have extensive coredumpctl output available if that would be helpful for debugging. Has anyone else experienced similar crashes with multi-monitor setups or KWin/Wayland compositor issues?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

When launching Thunderbird, I get a pop-up saying Server "outlook.office365.com" reported en error. Further not all sent email are showing in the Sent Items folder. How do I track down and fix the error?

I use a work email server outsourced to office365.com and Thunderbird v115.18.0 (64-bit).

I connect using Thunderbird with IMAP, and am subscribed to 100s of my folders there.

I reorganized my folders there, moving them about using THUNDERBIRD (not, as I've learned now, using the Outlook Web interface that I "should" have used). Needless to say, I was only moving subscribed folders about.

Now I find that the subscriptions to folders which have been moved or even deleted cannot be manipulated. Folders with the same name but now in different hierarchies can't be subscribed to.

I have removed the account, recreated it and Unsubscribed from EVERY FOLDER. But the erroneous subscriptions do not go away.

I have been having trouble for awhile now with the preview pane not changing with a message archive, delete or even a new message arriving. The only solution I have found that works is to turn it off/on with F8. Have tried updating (currently on 140.6.0esr), unified folder debugging, and setting thunderbird to download complete message not in bits on AI suggestions. Doing same thing on laptop and desktop. Gmail, yahoo and outlook accounts. It seems to only happen when using the unified inbox folder. Cannot find any reports here in forums, but AI says it is a common complaint. Is there anything I am missing to try?

Emails seem to take a longer period to download into Thunderbird which means my emails with codes time expire before i receive them. If I go straight into my webmail at ntlworld.com they show up there immediately. Advice welcomed.

My os crashed. I have been a t.bird user for years. Luckilly took a backup file .thunderbird on flashdrive very recntly. new zorin loaded and comes with t.bird installed. i have no password. i have not yet done anything and ask for step by step help i have opened t.bird abd it asks for email and password. i did not enter anything

Discovered no mail download ( auto or manual) into tbird fm Jan1st, ( 146 updated mid Dec)

As others already reported eventually determined due some interaction with email virus checker (AVG) HoweverTbird not useful or helpful in providing to user any indication of problem or providing failure info.

Issue showed as 'Get email' not doing/showing anything - not showing pop3 login+download steps or anything else.. - saw one timeout popup wdw but usually nothing..

Error console showed an error message that "pop3 socket closed will not send info".... fine sfaigoes but have to go look for it.

Downgrade tbird version (145) even tho 146 working for 2 weeks before stopped) - same issue/problem (as per error log)

Direct access to server showed server end closing socket due multiple concurrent sockets open, indicating tbird and AVG.. reset AVG and reboot and restart and (145) now loading but....

Issue is that tbird should be presenting some failure indication to the user on socket connection failure ( wdw popup or message line status - where shows 'making connection";, "login, ...It doesnt show anything... so silent failure.... Just doesnt work ...

Unrelated but should also mention that error console display of 146 prior to above 'pop socket close' msg also shows failure of verification of a tbird extn due missing manifest file... There was only one extn in the extensions dir so Its that one (supplied with 146 installation) - clearly named with a random collection of alphanumeric and hyphen chars...

I have installed Thunderbird with Zorin 18 and it won't show contacts. Google says that Thunderbird has full access to contacts. Attempt to manually add contacts fails with message of "Can't connect to server". I did have to manually add the calendar to make that part work. Is this an uninstall and reinstall (Thunderbird that is) situation?

I have a laptop that updated itself and is now updated to the latest version of Thunderbird. Desktop computer is still on v.115. I have the Local Folders on the laptop set to use a shared folder on the desktop and locally store incoming emails on the laptop. I use the shared folder for archiving emails on the desktop. So LaptopMail is stored on D:\LocalMail on the laptop and the Local Folders is set to store files on the desktop through the private local network on a shared folder (D:\Mail-Common on the desktop hard drive) Up until today this worked almost flawlessly. When things do go sideways on an update (which happens with thunderbird more than I like) I ususally search for an answer first. Normally, I find an answer that works.

The problem is exactly as was in this post [ https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1512216#search ] The fix however didn't work for me. I cannot directly edit the Local Directory path either. The browse button still works though. Currently, D:\Mail-Common is mapped to the "N:" drive and all that is in the Local Directory path in the Local Folders settings is N:

Any more suggestions are more than welcome
