My bookmarks order has been lost

It's not clear to me what exactly you mean. Have you updated Firefox or refreshed it? Where do the bookmarks show up in the wrong order? What has changed in how you can access bookmarks?

I often have no words for parts of the screen because I have learned my computer by "doing"." I will try to be clear. Yesterday a window appeared asking me if I wanted Firefox to be , was it updated?, or "refreshed," Since refreshed sounded more benign and it promised that everything would still be there, I clicked that. I have decades of bookmarks which I have arranged so I can get immediately to ones I use everyday. I just click the tab at the top left for bookmarks (the tabs have all disappeared), and then tap the bookmark I need. Now I have to tap three lines at the right, tap bookmarks, then tap one of the lists that appear in a window to the left and then search that list. It took a long time to find the bookmark for the catalog that I needed, T The lists had to be scrolled rather than appearing on the screen in columns. I sometimes scrolled in the old format but It was usually easy to pull up and view a certain category. It was easy when hit manage bookmarks and the major categories were clearly laid out. I am on a big and timed project at the moment so this is demoralizing. (And I am ninety that's why it's timed)

If you triggered the "Refresh" feature, it should have put a new folder on your desktop with old backed up data. The original state would be there in "Old Firefox Data" in case you'd need to go back to it.

This is to express my thanks to Denys and Jbr for their help and attention, I also need to let you know where I am. I did find the backup folder. I don't store material on desktop so I was not looking there. A quick look told me that I would have to have a lot more help to figure out what to do with all those unlabeled bookmarks. In the mean time I had been working with what I can get up in Manage bookmarks. Everything appears to be there. It take multiple clicks an some scrolling to get to a useful place but I can make it. Advice on making this more efficient I will have to do some inquiry about how I might put some of this on desk top. Bookmarks tool bar is already tasked with a couple of projects that I need to get to quickly. What happens if I fill it? That I had only one small thing to check before bed and could not get near it was last night's frustration. Earlier I had figured out our new University on line catalog
