Reddit Maxing out RAM, CPU and GPU. Crashing Firefox.
Updated to esr 128.14 Now Reddit (Redgifs) Hosting site for gifs crashes Firefox and cripples my PC. I've tried restarting in safe mode, then refreshing Firefox. Nothing is working. Reddit support just has an issue with the Gifs not playing, but nothing as extreme as what iam experiencing. I believe it may be something is preferences or a codec or something that was changed in the recent update. Any advice/ help would be great. Edit: OS is windows 10 latest updates Amd- Ryzen 7/32gig 3.20 ghz PC. So can handle a little bit of heavy browsing.. FF 128.14 esr Ext- Ublock Origin
Search By Image Flash and Download Video.
Even with Addons disabled still occurs. Really at a loss here.

Show us something. Your statement alone doesn't help us help you. Provide steps to replicate the issue with link(s) and screenshots.
How? I Read the post. It says its maxing out my RAM and CPU. I dont have recording software, dont thin i screenshot will show much except task manager going nuts. Appreciate your response thiugh
It maybe a codec or something that changed after updating both windows 10 and Firefox. So any ideas? Iam not to tech savey
Links?
Well they are nsfw. so probably not. The site itself is fine, its just when browsing on Reddit is where they get unstable, but just happened after i updated firefox. So something with a codec or possibly with Reddit. But sure if you dont mind testing it out .

Its pretty much any Redgifs while scrolling through a profile, that one just happened to be the first .
I do see a spike in resources, but no real issue. Let's pretend we're in a court of law(currently watching lawyers talk on youtube LMAO). You have failed to provide proof of the issue. Are you running any security software besides MS Defender? Desktop, Laptop, or DIY? If not DIY, what make and model computer?
Yeah understandable. It seems after updating windows 10, and Firefox the issue started. Not only on Reddit, but my RAM usage has increased as soon as i open Firefox. So may be GPU related, but not sure. Sounds like you dont have any real idea either. Read back on my op, i listed me specs. But maybe you were to bust acting like rude than giving advice or being helpful?
If any other polite contributors would like to give their tech advice on this issue, because its still occurring . it would be great .
Thanks. jonzn4SUSE is rude and not helpful at all.
Reading through his older posts he isn't to polite when trying to answer users questions. Not fir for a help /support forum in my opinion
" Let's pretend we're in a court of law(currently watching lawyers talk on youtube LMAO). You have failed to provide proof of the issue" Really? Not sure how your a top contributor with saying things like that.
I'm a little tired of users coming here with issue, but not providing proof of the issue. What are we suppose to do??? Then we have ask the for proof of the issue over and over again. It's not your fault, this forum allows it.
Here's another example. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1533671
Tell me what you think.
I get that. But if your going to be on a support forum, try being a little more polite. Not everyone has tech know-how. I do agree with providing some proof, or a way to replicate the issue though. I think maybe users who come asking for support, must assume that the mods have more knowledge than them. So even without a screenshot or something, they can just explain x and y. In my case i didnt think, and still dont think that a screenshot or (evidence as you say would really be helpful. I have used Firefox for 10 years now, and Am kind of familiar with user scripts, and the about: preferences, but i guess its just easier and less frustrating to try and ask for support. I'll admit my fault there. But in the end its only one website, and not all of them that the issue persists. I guess for the first time i'll need to open a bug report. Thanks for your time .
We're sorry to hear that Firefox is crashing. In order to assist you better, please follow the steps below to provide us crash IDs to help us learn more about your crash.
The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.
- Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A list of Submitted (and Unsubmitted, if any) Crash Reports will appear, similar to the one shown below.
- Copy the 5 most recent Submitted Report IDs that start with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste those IDs into the "Post a Reply" box.
Note: If a recent Report ID does not start with bp- click on it to submit the report.
(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)
Thank you for your help!
More information and further troubleshooting steps can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly) article.
Hello, Thanks for responding. I did check about:crashes and there was a report from 2023, nothing recent. Iam trying to see what is causing my high RAM and CPU, also GPU goes high when browsing through reddit.com. Mostly nsfw gifs. Not sure , but it looks like it could be related to my GPU. Iam just going to open a bug report with Mozilla, and see if they could possibly pinpoint the memory leak. More of a suspect it could be related with recent windows 10 update, corrupted a driver or something, and result is affecting Firefox.
Should i just delete my post?
Thanks
Okay, no problem. The bug report is a good idea and may give you some pointers.
No need to delete your post, I will close it off from here.
Thank you.
