HI,

I updated recently the Firefox installation on my Mac to 139.0.1. I noticed that I can no longer print from certain websites using Firefox. One example is from Alaskair, where I tried to print a ticket and it was just sitting there trying. I had no problem printing the same with Safari.

Is this a known problem? Any suggestion (other than just give up on Firefox and use Safari) for what to do about this?

Every time I update Firefox, new bugs cause annoying problems. That's why I usually not updating for a long time.

Thanks.

Firefox is a browser, it is not a print server. It can communicate with most printers out in the wild when the printers have the proper drivers. These drivers are constantly updated as printers change, which is all the time. I run linux and use software named cups for printing. It prints through a communication port supplied by Firefox but it handles everything else itself. I think Apple uses cups as well but windows generally has its own software. If you could say what printer you are using someone here may offer assistance - I'd guess its a driver.

Thanks for trying to help. The printer is a Brother HL-L2370DW. I apologize, but I am totally non-technical.

Printing from the Alaska website using Firefox used to work and it still works with Safari. Does each browser use its own printer driver?

If I download something and the printer stops working I would not know what to do and I cannot function without a printer. So I didn't download any driver for quite a while.....

Yeah, this seems to be a thing with the latest update. I had a similar issue, printing just hangs. What worked for me was going into about\:config, searching for `print.tab_modal.enabled`, and setting it to false. Restart Firefox after that. Give it a shot!

Thanks. I managed to get to the list of preferences under about:config but there is no print.tab_modal.enabled .... I am using a mac, I do not know if that makes a difference.

Ah, gotcha! It might be slightly different on Mac. Try searching for `print.show_tab_modal` instead. If that doesn’t show up, you could also try typing `about:preferences` in the URL bar and see if there’s an option to disable the print preview tab from there. Hope that helps!"

Thanks for taking the time to try to help. Unfortunately none of the mentioned approaches worked for me...

Maybe Firefox developers fix the printing problems (there are many), as printing is still a function that is needed. If Safari can do it, I do not know why Firefox could not do it.
