If I go forward to new pages from my home page, Bing, Firefox does not want to go back to a previous page if I click the back arrow or the back button on my mouse. If I start repeatedly clicking the back arrow or button it may go back after a half dozen or so clicks. Tried the same sequence of pages "forward" in other browsers without any problem, it only happens in Firefox.

I get around this by; When I find a link I want to check out, I open it in a new tab/window. Then when I am done, I close it and am back where I started.

You can hold down the left mouse button on either back or forward button to open the Tab history drop-down list.

You can start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
