I am currently using Firefox v26.0. For the last couple of versions, I have been getting a problem. I would have a Firefox window opened in the background (not minimized) while I am working with another window (say Word) on top, then the Firefox window would flash to show me what is in the Firefox window. The Firefox window would not be brought to the foreground (my Word window remains on top) but the Word window would be overwritten with the image of the Firefox window. I would need to "refresh" my Word window so I can see what is on my Word window. If Firefox is minimized then I don't get this problem. I also have no problem with other programs such as having Word in background and Photoshop in front but I will if I have Firefox in background. Help?

This could indicate some incompatibility with your graphics drivers. If you haven't already, try disabling Firefox's use of hardware acceleration for graphics.

Could you try disabling graphics hardware acceleration? Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced

On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"

This will take effect after you exit and restart Firefox.

Thank you for your suggestion. I have implemented what you have written. So far so good. If there is any further problem, it will be posted to this thread. Thanks again!
