In the first tab (upper left), it's flashing - that I have a message from someone I don't know. I can't open the message, there is no message from this person in my messages, and I cannot open nor delete this "flashing" notice. It just keeps flashing.
I have clicked on it: nothing... I have searched my messages: nothing I have searched Firefox and the web for this person... nothing... I've shut down & reopened my mailbox: Nothing. I'm sure it's a spam type message, but I've cleared spam, made myself unavailable and shut down my messenger (I don't use that anyway), I've tried everything I know to get rid of this 'flashing' 'notice' that "elvianewtond141 sent you a new message." Please help me turn off this "flashing" notice of a message that is 1) not accessible to me; and 2) one I cannot open or delete. Thank you.

It's a regression in FF9 see https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=713014 FF9 fails to open a tab (in your webmail account) to display the Yahoo chat. That's why the current tab (in Firefox) doesn't stop flashing. Anyway it works fine in FF10 beta.

Disable Yahoo Messenger (with the arrow on the right of your account name) in Yahoo mail.
Okay. It was 'off' for here, but said something about it wasn't off in other locations??? Anyway, I shut down "messenger" and it stopped flashing. Thank you. Now, since apparently these messages were "on" I'm wondering why I couldn't open the message - nor figure out how or where such a message would open. Actually, no need to answer. It's not really important. Thanks for helping me get rid of the flashing indicator.
