restoring tabs did not occur

I have updated firefox on my desktop, with quite some open tabs, where Firefox promted that after the upgrade all tabs would be restored. However, none of them were restored nor could I find them in the history. I guess I had all opened in a private window. IMHO the prompt could have warned for this and now I have to reconstruct all these tabs with my memory.

Is my assumption right?

I'm assuming that this is a Firefox bug, not a private windows issue, as my tabs, which had been restored on many previous restarts, disappeared in the latest update. It opened multiple windows, but none of the tabs which should have been saved.
