Calendar (Lightning) will not connect to Google Calendar

more options

I have read this article: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/using-lightning-google-calendar , but I still seem to be having some trouble getting Lightning to work with Google.

All I am trying to do is get read-only access to the calendar (read/write would be ideal, but it seems Provider for Google Calendar hasn't been compatible with Thunderbird/Lightning for a while), so I have done the following: - Made my Google calendar public - Copied the iCal URL - Created a new calendar in Lightning using the Google iCal URL

I've tried every possible combination of 'http'/'https' and iCal and CalDAV, with no luck. None of my events/appointments will show up in Lightning at all, even though the calendars are 'successfully' created.

I'm using: - Mac OS X 10.9.2 "Mavericks" - Thunderbird 31.0 - Lightning 3.3

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

There is always a compatible version of Provider for Google Calendar available on AMO. You'll need version 0.32 for Lightning 3.3. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/provider-for-google-calendar/

Alternatively you can access your Google Calendar via CalDAV. https://blog.mozilla.org/calendar/2013/09/google-is-changing-the-location-url-of-their-caldav-calendars/

Many Thanks!! I was successfully able to install Provider 0.32 for Lightning 3.3, so I now have read/write access. Previously, when I got the incompatibility error with 0.32, I think I will still using Lightning 2.6, maybe. I had just updated Thunderbird/Lightning earlier today and hadn't re-tried the Provider.

Just wanted to note that I also tried the CalDAV with iffy success. It would not let me dismiss any reminders at all. When the calendar synced, I 27 reminders pop up, but every time I hit "Dismiss All", the window would disappear briefly, my calendar seemed to 'refresh', then all the reminders came back immediately.

Long story short, Provider is working, and I am extremely happy that I don't have to deal with Google Apps directly.

Thanks!
