8/24/2022 for the last week Firefox has been opening in a small window in the left corner of the screen. I found the "fingerprint" suggestion, but that did not apply to my case. I stopped using Firefox as the default browser for a while, but when selected it for specific instances, still the same issue. This AM I upgraded to version 104.0, still the same problem.

I am running Firefox (104) on Linux (Arch Linux) in the Sway WM on a laptop with a modern (2021) AMD CPU and integrated GPU. I have installed (and verified that it is working properly) all the necessary drivers (mesa, vaapi, etc.) and updates, yet under about:support, HARDWARE_VIDEO_DECODING is blocklisted by env: Blocklisted by gfxInfo. How can I find out what exactly is blocking it? Might there be an environment variable missing or something like that?

I know that I can force-enable it through a settings flag, but this is not what I am looking for, I want to know how I can find out why it is blocklisted. (Setting hardware acceleration manually works without issues)

I have looked at https://fossies.org/linux/firefox/widget/gtk/GfxInfo.cpp and starting from line 860, my setup should only be blocklisted if I do not use Mesa (but I do).

Additional information: XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP is set to "sway".

I would really appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction on how to find out why my setup is "blocklisted by env".

I have admin access to four Wordpress blogs. Three are working fine. But on the fourth blog, when I click on my notifications to access comments that have been left on posts I get a blank screen and a spinning wheel.

The site works fine in other browsers, so the issue lies with Firefox not Wordpress.

I've done all the usual, like clear cache and cookies. I've tried disabling extensions/add ons, although if this were the problem the other three Wordpress blogs would be affected. Nothing makes any difference and I'm still getting the spinning wheel and am unable to access any notifications for this one site.

Firefox is up to date. I use Windows 11.

Any help appreciated as I'm at a loss as to why only this one Wordpress blog is affected or how to solve the problem.

It appears with the latest update, 104.0, my customers are no longer able to log into their accounts with my web site. The console is showing the following warning:

Cookie "JSESSIONID" with the "SameSite" attribute value "Lax" or "Strict" was ommited because of a cross-site redirect.

So the JSESSION ID cookie is being omitted, which is preventing the login process from working correctly.

Going into settings => Privacy and Security and unchecking cookies from the Custom setup still doesn't fix the issue.

The behavior seems to be inconsistent as the same version of Firefox works fine for me on one machine, but generates this warning another, even with the same settings.

Can you explain in more detail why this is happening and steps to fix it?

This morning, I found out a selection of my discord server's icons had vanished and emoticons were not loading. I thought it was a discord bug but it's the same for youtube thumbnails. So far they are the only affected websites.

I have tried to no avail:

• Updating extensions
• Updating Firefox
• Clearing site cookies and cache
• Disabling hardware acceleration
• Troubleshoot mode
• Disabling my ad blocker
• Using Web Tools to locate blocked content

Getting a bit desperate, haha! xD It's not my internet connection, my phone works fine.

Some notes: On youtube, only thumbnails seem to be affected and not all of them - about 2/3, seemingly random. On discord, server icons that are animated show up when moused over (animation) but not when static. When I noticed the issue it was only in a few servers. After doing the described troubleshooting all images are gone. Media sent in chat displays as normal.

I'm getting warning emails (2 so far) that windows 8.1 will no longer be supported after I think the end of this year and that I should buy windows 11. Since I use firefox exclusively, does this warning affect me? I'm not very computer savvy and am not sure what is the relationship mozilla firefox to windows (I think it's microsoft windows). I guess this computer has windows 8.1 but I'm not sure. Also, awhile back, microsoft edge showed up on my laptop but I've never even opened it, not even sure what it is. Not sure exactly when but I bought this Asus laptop but it's been several years. Thank you very much for any instruction and/or advice you may be able to give me. Randy Boone. My Bookmarks are missing from the side of my screen where they have been residing for almost ever. I have tried everything to get them back where they belong to no avail. I surely hope that someone can help me get them back. Thank you.

The (Download>save file as )function is completely F'ed up. Upgraded from Ubuntu 20.04 to 22.04 today. That included an updated firefox. Now when I download and save a file as function when I enter either a letter or number to rename the file the Search window pops up with options, or no options, that are available in the directory I'm saving to. The key or mouse focus is now in the Search box and not in the renaming the file box. That means in order to rename a file you have to switch back to the 'renaming the file' box fro the 'Search' box every time you enter a letter or number. Totally F'd up.

For some reason when writing an email on outlook.live.com, the check spelling feature disappears from the right click context menu and spelling errors are not highlighted anymore. I don't have a known time that it does this, but it happens minutes after the outlook.live.com page was first loaded and it doesn't matter if I was reading or writing an email before I started writing an email. A refresh of the page fixes the issue temporarily.

I had 2 Firefox browsers open, 1 for work & 1 for games. I restarted my computer, & tried to open the Work tabs, which I shut down 1st before the games tabs but only the last set of games tabs reopen. How do I get the "Work" (shut down before the "games") tabs to reopen? TomMulvihill99@gmail.com

Some of the websites I commonly use randomly changed fonts. Nothing was changed in the settings, this didn't happen to all the websites, most of them are like they were before. Any tips? Is it a bug in current version?

Firefox is selected as the default web browser in the OS preferred applications setting. If I launch Firefox and check its preference settings, it also displays that it is the default browser.

I'm also running Thunderbird v78. If I get an email with a link, and click the link, if Firefox is already running, the link opens normally in Firefox. If Firefox has not already been launched, clicking the link in Thunderbird will cause Firefox to be launched and open the link in it.

However, in that case, Firefox then displays a message that it is not the default browser, and asks to make it so. In an adjacent window, I can see the OS preferred applications displaying Firefox as the default.

If I click the button in Firefox to "make it the default" (even though it already is), Firefox is happy and remains happy as long as it is open. However, if I ignore it, the next time I click a link in Thunderbird, Thunderbird does weird stuff with the link instead of opening it in Firefox (behavior similar to not having a default browser set, or having a browser setting conflict). Even then, the OS default browser setting still displays as Firefox.

The behavior suggests that there's another place storing the default browser setting that is losing the setting if Firefox is spawned by an application (perhaps Firefox is spawned in a shell that isolates it from the system settings?).

Restarting Firefox with all extensions disabled doesn't affect this behavior.

How do I get Firefox to recognize that it is the default browser when it is launched by an application? Or if Firefox is correctly determining that it is not, how do I get the system to retain the default browser setting when Firefox is spawned by an application?

I'm running FF v104.0 on Linux.

so i just started up my computer, and i have the start up preferences set to restoring previous session. this usually works out just fine, even when firefox updates. however, this time (for the second time all around) it didn't go right. for some reason, the tabs opened up are from over two months ago from june, rather than my previous session. this is the second time something like this has happened to me.

i checked my homepages, and the alternate profile, and both seemed normal. (the homepage is the firefox home and the alt profile is the bare, the profile before i imported my bookmarks, passwords, add-ons, etc etc) reopening my previous tabs hasn't been too much of a hassle, but i don't want to make a habit of this. i have very limited technical acumen, so please be detailed and specific in your reply, i do genuinely need my hand held here.

Only one pc, every time I open Firefox, I have to log in. My sync is on and I've set my settings as described in this topic 'Keeps logging me out', but without result.

Any suggestions, please?
