I dont know why but all of a sudden when I turn my imac on I am having things start up and they never did before. So how do I keep Firefox from starting up when I turn imac on? I am getting really tired of having to shut off apps.

I have been going to the same website using Firefox for a year or two and now when I go there the home page for the site shows up for a few seconds then disappears leaving a white screen. Once when I was backspacing there was a notice saying it had been deleted from it's cache and to reload which I did but nothing happened. I have also been using CCleaner and I have been cleaning the MFT free space for Drive C I've been doing that for a month or so and I'm wondering if that caused the problem? I wouldn't think so if it was the problem it should have happened the first time I used it and it should happen on my other browsers and it hasn't. It's only 2 web sites that I know of that have this problem there may be others but I haven't found them yet. How do I get FF to reload the site in it's cache and keep it there if this is a problem with FF? If this is a problem with CCleaner and the free space scan I'd like to know that. I recently bought new computer with Windows 11 Home Edition. Downloaded FIREFOX browser and migrated in my bookmarks, (which worked GREAT!!!!). Then I attempted to log into the Your Neighbourhood Credit Union (YNCU) website. I could enter my user name, password and security question but then I received a message, on their website: "The system is experiencing problems. Please try again later." (see attachment below). After working with YNCU staff for HOURS, it was suggested that I log in using "Microsoft EDGE" browser. My login was accepted in seconds - NO problems. Today I attempted to log into the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). Again I was able to enter my user name, password and answer to my security question. The response I received was: "404 -- NOT FOUND From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1: 10,4.5 404 Not Found The server has not found anything matching the Request-URI. No indication is given of whether the condition it temporary or permanent. If the server does not wish to make this information available to the client, the status code 403 (Forbidden can be used instead. The 410 (Gone) status code SHOULD be used if the server knows, through some internally configurable mechanism, that an old resource is permanently unavailable and has no forwarding address." I immediately attempted to log into the CRA website using "Microsoft EDGE" and was IMMEDIATELY granted access after entering security information. I REALLY LIKE using the FIREFOX browser - and detest using Microsoft EDGE, but unless this access issue is resolved I will be forced to use EDGE :(.

In the appdata\roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xyz\storage\archives folder there are 2 folders, \0 and \default. They contain over 500MB between them and are not cleared out by removing all website data (it did clear out Storage/Default). Can the content of these 2 folders be deleted? The \0 folder contains 30 folders with dates for the folder name ranging from 2022-01-16 to 2023-10-26 for a total of 115 MB. The \default folder contains over 1000 folders dated from today back to 2017 for a total of 475 MB. The names of the folders in \default are variations of websites visited and pages I have saved elsewhere (https++++www.xyz.com and file++++c++doc+ etc.)

I tried searching "storage\archives" and came up blank, I hope no one else has answered this in some other thread. Thank you for any info.

I created a website with a pretty simple css in the body of the page. I have a background image, but its colors are too dominant, so I also added a background color property to make the background more "pale". This approach worked perfectly in Chrome and I am 99% sure that I also tested this back then in Firefox and it worked as expected.

Now, only a white background is displayed in Firefox (Chrome works perfectly), which is interesting, because nor the image nor the set colour is white (well... the colour is white, but it is semi transparent). Did I miss something or is this an accidentally added bug in Firefox?

For your reference I attach a minimal working (in Chrome the paler background is displayed properly, in Firefox white page) example (note: change image url to whatever):

Close firefox

Copy previous.jsonlz4 file to the main level in the profile

It has all the tabs i used to have in it because I made a backup a few days ago

Rename the file to sessionstore.jsonlz4

restart firefox

I get the same single tab I had before i did this

when i go to history tabs, all that is there is the single tab i currently have

Once again, MS Edge updated itself without my permission and set itself as default browser. When I restored Firefox as browser, my history and bookmarks are all gone. How do I get them back?

Since the most recent update, I can no longer run YouTube full screen in the background while I am working with other programs. This morning, when I put YouTube in fullscreen, it creates a second desktop. When I go to open a program, it switches me back to the first desktop.

I have been using Windows 10 with Firefox browser and Google/Gmail for many months. I also have been using Norton 360 and other Norton programs for many years. A few days ago, I updated Norton Utilities Ultimate and after update ran it for standard options. Before that update, I could start Google and still be signed in and start Gmail and still be signed in. Now, whenever I close Gmail or Google, I have to sign in whenever I start Google/Gmail. I tried to get help from Norton (see attached chat printout), but they said it was not a Norton problem and to contact Google. When I researched the problem with Google, it indicated that the problem was related to cookies but did not help correct it. I tried Firefox Help and could not find any useful information. I then changed to Google Chrome browser; that works and I can start and stop Google and Gmail and remain signed in. If I go back to Firefox, I still have to sign in every time I start Google. I had Firefox set to load 4 tabs when started. Something has changed recently and now it seems as if the same 4 sites keep repeating somehow. I have set the Home/Custom URLs to these 4 sites, but cannot prevent them to load again when already loaded.

Firefox has the option to "choose where to save files to" on its options, which I have activated. It works for pretty much every file format/extension EXCEPT PDFs. When I open a PDF on Firefox, it is automatically saved to the downloads folder, overriding my own settings. This is pretty annoying, I wondered if there was a way to choose individually like I do for all my other files.

1) I Have Win 10 64 bit laptop. Is Firefox 124 a 32-bit or a 64 bit application? How would I know?

2) Will a 64-bit Java Runtime Environment be compatible with FF 124 - if FF is 32-bit ?

You can ignore the rest of my questions if you have no time for this.

Hint: Seeing as most software search functions are highly inadequate, I can only expect that AI will slow the workings of all software-operated system to a crawl or to a screeching halt. I see such an obvious lack of willingness to make software work for most people, instead of for the few geniuses who think everything goes without saying, that I have no confidence in software people anymore.

Software was once a promise, 40 or 50 years ago. Now it more and more becomes a promise unfulfilled. And nobody wants to do anything about it. It's not even recognized as a problem. Sadly, this happens in Community operated software like Mozilla just like in the big for profit Apple, Google, Microsoft, etc enterprises. I am trying to be as kind as possible in this.

Extra credit: 4) Why does the search term "Version" produce zero result in Firefox "Settings"? Seems like a very, very common term.

5) I am pretty sure that "Sharing Trouble-shooting Information" will not help you with answering my questions. How much do you want to bet on that?

6) Why can't search software answer a question with another question, asking intelligently for more detail

in order to decipher what the initial question might require to be answerable?

I am setting up a new mac computer (Mac book Air M3 with Sonoma 14.3). I have installed Video Download Helper. The icon appears in the Applications folder and the Dock, but not in the Firefox toolbar. How can I get the icon back? Many thanks.

updated to Version 124.0.1 (64-bit), now adblocker ultimate blocking website ( are you human? not a robot requests). There's no button to confirm.

I can get to log in screen ( Sams' club) but it goes right back to the are you human screen?, 

I can access the website if turn off Adblocker Ultimate. Adblocker appears up to date. When I disable Adblocker there is still a request, but this time a button below to press and hold which takes me to login screen. I can successfully login then. Reporting the issue which began within 5 min of the last Firefox update. I updated 3/23/2024

After Ubuntu updated the GPU driver, Firefox stopped rendering and only works when disabling hardware acceleration. See screenshot attached. I'm using ubuntu/ RTX4090 and nvidia-driver-535 (propietary, tested). Attaching the apt upgrade logs that caused this to happen. Firefox is the only application that suffers from this.

Is there any fix happening soon for this?

Why does my Firefox browser no longer show "Google Advanced Search" screen? All of a sudden, I can no longer access the "Google Advanced Search" screen in Firefox. It shows when I use Microsoft Edge, and Google Chrome, so what is wrong with Firefox that I can no longer access "Google Advanced Search" screen in Firefox. All I get is a window that says "Google in the upper corner, there is a sudden flash of the Advanced Search screen and then it disappears and the window goes blank. This does not happen in any other browser. The issue just started today and there appears to be no way to fix it.

Hello, I hope your day is going well! (^_^) I highly dislike quite a few of the settings on firefox, especially considering they're turned on by default. The setting I abhor is the experiment setting because mozilla is quite literally experimenting on myself and other users. You may have a different perspective on the matter but I find it disgusting that there's nothing overtly telling you that your instance of firefox is different than other peoples just so they can run experiments (technically, on YOU) but I digress. I noticed the experiment option was turned on after I thought I had turned it off. Since I turned it off, I've had to update firefox every time I start it. I happened to look at the settings and noticed that the experiment option was turned back on without my consent or knowledge. After turning it off again, firefox updated once again and guess what, the experiment setting was turned back on. Why is that and how can I prevent that from happening in the future because, again, that's a disgusting practice in my eyes.
