Since my last update I keep getting a big ads box on the screen & get get rid of it. It literaly blocks my emails & can't even be shrunk. How do I get rid of it
A black box pops up on either top or bottom of the screen that automatically opens on it's own & than shows a small section of open add once you actually close it. It actually blocks me from seeing some things because there is no X shown to close & make that box disappear & is ALWAYS in the way. I did notice that happened after the last Firefox update. Honestly if I can't get rid of it I"m going to UN-install Firefox & go back to Windows only because it's blocking me access to my work.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- TDSSKiller - AntiRootkit Utility
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Already thought of that right off the bat. I have run both my Malware/Anti Virus several times. Like I said, this only started happening AFTER my update. I can close the add, but it never truly goes away. When I go into plain old IE I do NOT have this same problem. I do not have a virus/ or malware in my system. So how do I get rid of it??
Hi Lesaann1, it sounds as though you might be using an ad remover which is only partially removing the ad, which is yielding a dysfunctional result in Firefox 23. Can you make sure your extensions are up-to-date?
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > "gear" button > "Check for Updates"
While you're in the Add-ons Manager, I suggest disabling ALL nonessential or unrecognized add-ons on these two tabs:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Plugins category
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category
If a link to restart Firefox appears above any of the disabled extensions, go ahead and use that link to restart Firefox.
Any effect on the ads?
I finally found out how to remove that annoying box. Go to orange Firefox tab at left side of screen click on Add-ons go to extensions click on Search Assistant 2.0.0 you can disable or remove it I removed and now the box is gone. Also sometimes after updates good ideal to go back and check extensions because sometimes they slip in some extension if not sure what the extension is always good ideal to remove or disable, some you can click on more and will tell you about the extension. Hope this helps worked for me
Hi BigCountrySwtP, thank you for identifying the particular extension.
Normal updates do not include any extensions. If you are offered a link to update Firefox while browsing, you may want to ignore it and instead check for a legitimate update using
Help > About Firefox > "Check for Updates" button
