On the task menu of my norton security window there is a place to check vulnerability protection. One of the concerns it listed was an infection on my google tool bar on firefox. It suggested the easiest way to fix was to upgrade to a newer version og google.,because as of yet there is apparently no fix for it. When I tried to upgrade to a newer version of google to void the old one a window opened and told me firefox or newer is not compatible with it. They said I should either download something from firefox to fix or contact firefox. Ido not even know where to start, not very savvy on issues like this./ your help would be much appreciated. what should I do?

You could use firefox 3.6, which is old but still supported and secure. However the best solution is to give up on using Google Toolbar because Google no longer support it with firefox, mainly because it has little to offer.

You can still save google bookmarks by copying them into Firefox. Please have a look at

I am hoping the Norton report you refer to merely says your system has vulnerabilities, rather than that it has an actual infection (or that it has dealt with or quarantined any malware).

Yes it did answer my question. I did misunderstand. Norton only said the problem was there but indeed they to protect against it. My mistake, thanks very much for you help.
