Why is "Update 3.6.16" is locking my desktop?
This problem started today (3/23/11) on my desktop which is running XP Pro (Service pack 2). When Firefox attempted to start the first time, Norton flashed a message that it had stopped a file from loading that it considered to be a threat. Now Firefox hangs in an apparent loop trying to load the main page. I was experiencing NO problems with version 3.6.15.

Norton has a false positive detection for "plugin-container.exe". Open Norton an un-quarantine that file, so that Firefox will work.
