When I go to download a file, Firefox keeps asking me what I want to do with the file instead of just downloading it as I've told it. It USED to give me the "remember my choice" option but that's greyed out right now.

First things first, I KNOW it's in my prefs somewhere because when I moved the .mozilla directory and started firefox, this worked, so I'm wondering where other than prefs.js and mimetypes.rdf that this action is dealt with. Those are the only 2 files I can find that are mentioned that have anything to do with this, and neither one of them are the culprit.

I can't erase the whole profile because re-entering passwords, etc. isn't really feasible, though if there's a good way to select what data you want to save while migrating to another profile, I'm all ears.

The mimetypes.rdf file has been replaced by handlers.json, so maybe check the latter in the profile folder.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:preferences page.

Oops, I forgot to mention I did that one too. I'll check out those other links. Sounds migration is my only option.
