Good Day,

A few months ago my Firefox stopped printing in https://secure.sarsefiling.co.za to my Samsung printer. I was not able to find a fix to the problem, but by accident found that it would still print to my HP printer.

SARS makes use of Adobe Flash player to open it's forms.

I moved my Samsung to the desktop and found that the Firefox on the desktop could now also not print in SARS, but as I use my laptop more often I was not concerned. But this morning when I wanted to print the tax forms that I had completed, it would not print. When you click on the print button the document does not even go to the printer que, it just shows 0 documents pending.

Could someone please let me know how I can go about fixing this as I do not have another printer to connect to my laptop.

I have installed the newest Flash Player as requested by SARS. The form opens, I can complete it and file it, it will just not print. Everything else in Firefox can print. Firefox updated before the weekend to version 64.0. The printer was still working on Wednesday last week. I have tried resetting the printer. I cleared Firefox. I even went so far as to uninstall Firefox, delete all information including my profile and I now have a Firefox that has none of my previous information, bookmarks or anything else, but still I have the problem.

I need hardcopies for the files at work and I prefer using Firefox, please help.

Hmm, do regular web pages print normally, it's just this one site that is a problem?

At the point that you want to print, is the content you want to print still in a part of the page controlled by Flash, or do they generate a print-optimized HTML or PDF representation of the forms that you can print outside of Flash?

If printing can only be triggered from within the Flash content, tighter security is one possible reason for printing to be blocked. You could experiment with the "sandbox level" setting. Here's how:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful or accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste sand and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the dom.ipc.plugins.sandbox-level.flash preference to display a dialog where you can enter a revised value -- try reducing from 3 to 1 -- then click OK.

According to this table, levels 2 and 3 restrict printing: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Security/Sandbox#NPAPI_Flash_Process

I suspect that won't take effect until your next Firefox startup, unfortunately, although possibly it is worth trying to reload the page -- I assume your form entries are stored by the site (!).

Does that make any difference?
