I have the same problem with many duplicate bookmarks and folders, and I am not using Sync (at least I never intentionally installed Sync). How do I fix this please?

I'm sorry, PavelkoT, but I don't know what you're asking me.

Open up Help > Troubleshooting Information, then scroll down to Places Database and use the Verify Integrity button to fix the database where bookmarks are stored. Let it run to completion and view the results of that verification.

As far a Sync is concerned, it's not something that gets "installed", it is built into Firefox for like 8 years now. Chances are that if you created a "Firefox Account" that was from a prompt to set up Sync.

Check the Menu Panel, what you get when you click the 3-bar button on the right-side of the toolbar. If you see one of your email addresses you are connected to Sync. If so, go into your Firefox Preferences > Sync and use the Disconnect button. And do that before using Verify Integrity. If not, you will see Sign in to Sync.

If you are using Sync, your bookmarks will likely get duplicated after the next time you open Firefox. So make sure that Sync is not "Connected"; IMO that is what causes the duplication of bookmarks. Not Sync itself but the inclusion of Firefox for iOS or Firefox for Android in the Sync connection chain.
