I open the file that I save the download in click open and then click install It has been downloading for over a hour

window says downloading firefox... and one moment,firefox will launch as soon as the install is complete...

Try this:

Download the full Firefox installer and save the file to the desktop
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/
Start the installation with a double-click on the desktop icon
