Unable to send email
Using Thunderbird with Spectrum email (an old roadrunner address). Changed the outgoing server to the following: Server Name: mobile.charter.net Port: 587 Username: Reefside@cfl.rr.com Authentication: Normal Password Connection Security: SSL/TLS Testing connection fails. I have tried different combinations and once in a while I get that the connection is successful, but email sending hangs and never completes.

Hello there Reefside

Yes, your SMTP settings are fine, but there is a port and encryption mismatch. If you use Port 587: Set the encryption to STARTTLS.If you use Port 465: Set the encryption to SSL/TLS.Change your settings to STARTTLS on Port 587, and the program should work perfectly."
Question
Are your passwords and other settings working correctly?
Did you change these or other settings when transferring to Spectrum?

Hello there
Antivirus If things are not working properly after trying the steps described above, you might want to check a few more things. Sometimes, heavy antivirus software or firewall settings block port 587 or conflict with Thunderbird's secure connections. You can disable the antivirus email scanners temporarily to check if that is the culprit.
Password Expiry / App Password: Make sure your password is still the exact one you use to log into the Spectrum Webmail portal.Authentication Requirement: Confirm that Always use secure connection (or similar) is checked alongside STARTTLS in your SMTP settings.
