Because it was referred to, I discovered having received an email The sender had taken the easy way - for him - by replying to a message from 2024, of which I am one of the recipients. I did not see a notification, nor did it show in the received mail folder, which is orderd by date, newest on top. Ultimately I found it attached to the original mail from 2024. Is there a way to get a notification, handle such messages as separate mail and show them at their appropiate place in the received mail folder?

I have been using Mozilla Thunderbird for decades and they have even contributed a small amount of money to Thunderbird periodically. Just within the last two or three days all of a sudden I have been unable to send emails with my phone. I receive emails, but I do not send them.

So I opened up a laptop where I did not have Thunderbird and set it up properly through Spectrum using the incoming and outgoing servers as mail.twc.com. and yes, just like on my phone. I continue to receive new emails, but even with the laptop I was unable to send an email.

I received the message"send message error sending a message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to outgoing server smtp mail.twc.com was lost in the middle of the transaction. Try again."

I contacted Spectrum twice and both times they had me try to send a message through their Web server spectrum.net and that message did go through. Of course then their response is that this has to be a problem with the third-party app meaning Mozilla Thunderbird, and they can’t help with that at all. I sure would appreciate some help because I hate to walk away from Thunderbird as well as change my email address after all of these decades.

When attempting to send emails through Thunderbird, I get the following error messages:

Login to server smtp.long-mcquade.com with username jmurphy@long-mcquade.com failed.

Sending of the message failed. Unable to authenticate to Outgoing server (SMTP) . Please check the password and verify the ‘Authentication method’ in ‘Account Settings | Outgoing server (SMTP)’.

When testing the server connection in server settings and outgoing server settings, I successfully establish a connection, yet I am still unable to send messages.

When clicking the "cloud icon" ("get all new messages") I would expect it to check all accounts. But it only check the account that is currently displayed (not the others). Is this a known bug? Is there a setting for this?

I just replaced my WiFi router and was able to get 5 messages after new network set up, but now it can't connect to outgoing or incoming mail server.. I double checked all my setting with Spectrum and all looks good, but won't connect.

With help from Chatgpt I have tried all possible combinations of server settings, but even if everything seems OK it ends with the message that it is not approved. Chatgpt thinks that it the problem is OAuth not working, maybe because the mail addresses are too old, they are @dbmail.com, and webmail says that the server is outlook.live.com.

TB recently prints unwanted text/information, this also happens while forwarding certain e-mails. As shown in the attachment TB wants to print seven pages although the original mail has only one.

What can we do?

Have TBird 102 Installed on 2 Dell LapTop Machines - Win10 OS

The Installation Process Completes but am having issues with the

Incoming Email Server Settings, and the Out Going Email Server Settings. 

On One Installation ( Nov2025 TimeFrame) , the Emails come down into the InBox But Will Not Go Out.

On the Other Installation ( May 2026 TimeFrame ) ... Cannot set up Email Account ... username/password errors.

Attempting to install Thunderbird on an additional desktop using same address as my original computer has. That was my question:

Have you compared all account settings, not just the email and password?

Here's my answer to those questions: "Authentication error" "probably wrong configuration, username or password."

My email provider is MTA (Matanuska Telephone Association) Yes, I currently use Thunderbird in my other desk top and it works fine.

I have been using Tbird & Yahoo successfully for years. The Yahoo made the change to require OAuth2. After that change I did get new mail. After that I couldn't receive new messages. I decide this could be fixed by removing my Yahoo account from Tbird and setting it up again.

1. 1 starting from Account Setup, I enter my name, email address and password.
2. 2 Before clicking Continue I disable blocking on my pi-hole in case that could be an issue.
3. 3 A pop-up with a Yahoo ad appears.
4. 4 I click next and enter my password and click next again.
5. 5 I check a box to agree to some terms and Agree
6. 6 Tbird gives me a green box saying, "Configuration found in Mozilla ISP database.
7. 7 I ensure IMAP is selected and click Done.
8. 8 I get another pop-up from Yahoo
9. 9 I check a box to agree to some terms and Agree
10. 10 That green box turns yellow and now says, "Unable to log in at server, Probably wrong configuration, username or password."
11. 11 I can login to the Yahoo webmail page, and there I see a new message that start with, "Your Yahoo account XXXX was used to sign in to a new third part application on thunderbird."
12. 12 Accept cookies from sites is checked
13. 13 I am not using a VPN and my network is the same as when Yahoo and Tbird were playing nicely.
14. 14 Outgoing Server settings for Yahoo Mail list OAuth2 for Authentication method.

What else can I check to setup Yahoo with Tbird? Let me know if there are logs I can provide to help.

I upgraded my Fedora nad I think that Thunderbird 149 came with that upgrade. I cannot send mails. Ctrl+enter has no reaction. Downgraded to 148 and everyhing is fine. |<

I have used Thunderbird as my mail client for many years on both my Windows workstation and my Windows laptop. My ISP is Spectrum. All of a sudden, today, Thunderbird has stopped sending outgoing emails from my workstation. I get a message telling me that Thunderbird can't connect with the server. Outgoing email seems to work fine on the laptop, as well as on Spectrum's own Webmail interface. I think I'm getting all my incoming messages, although it's hard to know that for sure. Both machines are running Windows 11. I haven't changed any configurations. What can I do to get Thunderbird to function correctly on my workstation? Thank you.

I want to use thunderbird on a Windows 11 laptop. Tell me how to connect Thunderbird to send and receive emails from email account, jds@sefcik.net, hosted at smartmail.buz.net.

I want to change the default download protocol accessing the mail server from imap to pop3. I went into the account settings & changed the default selection from imap to pop3. But the change does not take effect. Tbird still accesses the server using the imap protocol.

I have seen this problem with roadrunner listed in the forum but my situation is a bit different. Neither my wife or I can send or receive roadrunner emails with different machines. She uses a Mac (sonoma 14.8.7), up to date, I use Linux Mint ver 22. We also have iPhones and iPads. none of these units send or receive emails for the last 24 hrs but all worked just fine before. Spectrum says it our problem not theirs. The tech person at Spectrum said they partner with Thunderbird but they did not know of any changes made.

I have changed passwords used different routers and anything I can think of to connect but the devices now all time out when trying to connect.
