This started almost two months ago. When I open my email on Thunderbird, the inbox fills OK. As I go through the emails at some point, several just disappear from Thunderbird? When I access my emails directly from Spectrum, they are still there, but if I refresh they may disappear.

I paid an expert on Just Answers and he spent over an hour and came back with Spectrum was having issues, they were aware and they were fixing them. I thought the problem was solved, but then it kept on happening. I am losing important documents every day! Please help me!

Recently, the manual message check feature has stopped working, whether I use the “Get Messages” button or the menu.

When this feature was still working, I could see the progress of the message retrieval from the server in the status bar; now nothing happens (no display in the status bar and no messages are retrieved).

I should note that this isn’t a connection issue, since new messages are successfully retrieved during periodic checks or when Thunderbird starts up.

Has anyone else encountered this problem?

TB is sending most of my email to the wrong folder. I had 21 message filters, but then I noticed that a lot of things were going to a folder named "bridge" for no apparent reason. I looked at the filter log, but there was nothing in the log for the last few months.

I did have a filter sending certain messages to the "bridge" folder, but TB is sending things there for no reason. I disabled all 21 message filters, and it is still doing it.

I have version 155.0 and I'm using Windows 11 25H2.

How can this be fixed?

Thunderbird has stopped getting messages and 'get messages' doesn't work & I have to close & restart thunderbird to receive them. Nothing has changed with the email client itself.

I know messages have arrived by checking my providers phone app, but for Thunderbird to download them to my PC I now have to restart Thunderbird to get new messages

Thunderbird has always had a problem with filtering all incoming mail to the correct folders. Sometimes it does it correctly and sometimes it doesn't. But this morning it is dumping all my incoming mail into a folder that isn't the Incoming mail folder.

How do I get it to put the incoming mail in the Incoming folder?

I use IMAP to grab my mail, if that's important.

In the last couple of days, my normal method of deleting messages from my Inbox, right-clicking on the message and selecting the trash can icon, has stopped working: the message disappears for a moment, then reappears. I can delete it by dragging it to the Trash folder in the folders pane on the left.

I've followed the instructions given in several postings here, including deleting the Trash and trash.msf files, doing that and then creating an empty txt file called Trash (no .txt), and using Repair Folder.

It just now occurred to me to disconnect from the Internet and try to delete a message. It worked fine?!

All of the incoming messages are going to Trash. This includes messages I have not indicated as trash. I get no new messages to my inbox. Started today, 09/04/2026.

SMTPは smtp-mail.outlook.com / 587 / STARTTLS / OAuth2 で送信すると、 535 Authentication unsuccessful, SmtpClientAuthentication is disabled for the Mailbox. と返されます。

smtp.office365.com / 587 / STARTTLS / OAuth2 も試しましたが、こちらは接続タイムアウトになりました。 MicrosoftアカウントのOAuth2認証と2段階認証は完了しています。 Outlook Web版・新しいOutlookでは送受信正常です。 Microsoftサポートには問い合わせましたが、Thunderbird側へ確認するよう案内されました。

この状態でThunderbird側にまだ確認すべき設定がありますか？ それともMicrosoft側でSMTP AUTHが無効になっている状態でしょうか？

My husband (DG) is 88 and beginning to have severe memory & analysis problems. I recently tried for three days, using his computer, to set up an account for him on the Social Security site, that I could oversee. It accepted a password, but kept asking for a 'backup code' that supposedly was 'assigned' - so I would have a second method to verify the account. There was no way, on that web page, that I could request a 'backup code' or ask for the '10 backup codes' that were supposedly given automatically. I wanted to simply get a letter that explained his SSA eligibility, so we could apply for Senior housing. I was able to call SSA and request the letter - but it will take 14 days by mail. We need it now - and I should have been able to simply download a PDF eligibility letter to print out. In less than 5 minutes, I was able to request and download an eligibility letter for myself on MY SSA account - but could not do it through his SSA account. I need to be able to communicate with SSA (& other agencies) and receive their replies through an email "AccountForDG@centuryxxxxx.net" that I can read in my email account "CuriousQuestor@centuryxxxxx.net). How do I set this up? Thanks in advance.

I am unable to send Email. I am using THUNDERBIRD app..My Email address is [redacted from public] @talktalk.net. I am receiving mail but cannot send.. I have a message that reactivation is required after being blocked. [ have paid my subscription but still blocked. Thunderbird version 155.0

As of September 3, 2026 all my new emails are going into a random folder instead of the inbox. This is also happening on my wife's PC plus and we are not getting the emails to our iPhones until we get out of Thunderbird. What has changed? This has not happened before.

After fixing the view problem of my email in Thunderbird (thanks for the F8 tip!), my email stopped downloading. I have no "prompt for password" checked. There isn't a primary password checked. I've confirmed the pop outgoing email is correct with the email provider (google). I can get into it without any issues and see my emails there.

I've re-entered the password for the pop outgoing email to no avail.

After your upgrade I was unable to send messages. The incoming I was able to fix but the outgoing I could not fix. I have included the email message sent to me and I have included a picture of the outgoing STMP,

Since the last (v155) update, TBird started putting all incoming email into one subfolder under my main inbox. I have several message filters that sort incoming mail into various folders. When I disabled the message filter associated with the folder in question, the email started coming into my inbox folder again. The message filter connected to that folder has not been changed in a while, and is a "match any of the following" rule with a number of specific from/contains/[text] entries. When I examined the filter closely, I found two rules where the [text] field was blank, which apparently was causing the problem, but as I said, I haven't changed the filter in a while - what recent change might have caused this? (Either adding empty fields or else considering [blank] to be equivalent to [any].)

Thunderbird demands my password for outgoing SMT server when I go to send an email but when I enter it, system won't accept it even though it is the correct password. I have had this problem for some time and it comes and goes. Sometimes I have ebeen able to send without a problem, then it comes back I had a helpful reply from this forum (can't find who posted it - Mick?) tellling me to go into the error console (Ctrl + Shift + J) and delete eveything in that. I tried that. It worked at first, but now when I do it, it has no effect. And the problem now appears to have become permanent, although occasionally after I have been working for some hours, then suddenly I can send without any problem. Problem hasn't budged though for a couple of days now. This is a mysterious and erratic gremlin, which now seems to have taken root. Any suggestions please? Carol

When I send an email with my HTML file signature Thunderbird appends a text signature as well. The text signature is not visible in the draft email, and is not in the settings. The text signature is added for separate identity with no signature enabled. I want to stop this. Any ideas please?

In the last couple of days I’ve had a couple of alerts from TB when in other apps, seemingly random times, but possibly when I get an email (from memory, about Thunderbird requiring access to my Google account). I haven’t received any emails for a couple of days and I can’t send them (connection to Outgoing server smtp.gmail.com timed out). But, in TB account settings an outgoing server test was successful (Successfully established a secure connection to smtp.gmail.com:465). I also can’t pause calendar reminders, whatever I do they stay on the screen (but I can delete them with the X in the top-right corner). I haven’t changed anything in my TB or Google account settings. I’ve checked authorisations in my google account and TB auth is there. On my (android) phone, I can send and receive emails OK. I've been using Thunderbird on Windows 10 since last year sometime. Currently I'm on version 151.0.1.

I've 4 x mailboxes here and since yesterday, 3 of them show me an unusual message when checking for emails. I tried attaching a screenshot but although the screenshot uploaded, I couldn't find a way to insert it here. But the message says Unable to write the email to the mailbox and asks me to check if I've write privileges (which I have) and to cheek the available disk space.(currently 101GB free).

The message is happening 2 or 3 times each day and lasts for about half an hour, then everything works fine again. Has anyone else seen this??
