Running Thunderbird 140.2.0esr (64-bit) on Ubuntu 22.04. Both Tbird and Firefox are frequently hanging with "not responding" message. Sometimes if I "wait" it responds again. But I often have to Force Quit. Sometimes all apps, the cursor, everything hangs completely. A couple of times, I've had to reboot to continue. This has happened far more often in the last few months than it did previously. It can happen after opening new mail or after opening mail saved in Local Folders. I run updates as often as I am notified that they are available. The only extension listed is Import Export Tools. I just disabled that, since I wasn't aware that it was running.

My Thunderbird (version 115.12.2) is running on a Windows 11 system. My profile has multiple accounts configured as IMAP to multiple email services. I also have the Status Bar and Activity indicator enabled. Randomly, both indicators will show busy for an extended period of time. When I view this in the Activity Manager I see one or more folders hung for 10 or 20 minutes downloading one message out of several. This occurs in multiple accounts and servers.

I have researched this and attempted the fixes presented. I have cleared the cache files and compacted and rebuild email folders as suggested, but the slow update still occurs.

Then I decided to try and capture a ProMon.exe trace to see what is happening. What I found was Thunderbird.exe was spending all of the time while hung access the following file: C:\Users\MyUser\AppData\LocalLow\Intel\ ShaderCache\4a5eb0e65e559fc08e65ecb2fa9d650817ae895582a7a7ede162866d3e47a05a, like it was stuck in a loop.

When Thunderbird is operating normally, it is accessing this file but only for short period of times. Research says that it is ok to delete the files in this folder. I did that and it seemed to help for awhile. But it started happening again.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? Is there a Windows thing to look further into? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was using thunderbird on a very old computer running windows vista. When I installed thunderbird on the new computer running windows 11 none of the folders have anything in them. Like they didn’t transfer or something. The folders are there but there isn’t anything in them.

Suddenly, I can no longer log in to iCloud on my MacBook Air from Firefox: I get the login alert and the code to validate the connection, but the window to enter the verification code doesn't appear. It says "enter" the code, but I don't get the window to do so!

I'm on Big Sur 11.7.10, it worked without a hitch for years. This laptop is one of my trusted devices. Is a recent update preventing the connection?

I looked at similar questions, and answers from 2020 said to add the 6-digit code after my password, but that solution doesn't work.

It seems the problem is with Firefox; it works on Safari. Any solution for Firefox?

I have contacted Microsoft. After testing the link/page loads in Edge, Chome (with and without addins same in ff) and Brave. But does not load in FF (with addon's disabled) nor in Private browsing FF (no addins obviously) they said to reach out to FireFox for support. I tried in edge (regular, not private) and it plays the stupid slideshow with music just fine, and I can get out of it and view the regular memory page that I want (Music really!? What if you’re viewing while someone around you is asleep? Or otp in public??? Wow, I have asked this question at least 10 times now. I'm hoping this time I'll get an answer. Since last week, for some reason i all of a sudden can no longer log into my hotmail and outlook accounts. When i click on "hotmail sign in" located in my book marks, the log in page will not come up. The page seems to flash several times and then i get an emblem telling me "I cannot long in. Try again later". This has been happening for several days now. The only way i can check my email is either from my iPhone or a different browser than Firefox. Why won't Firefox allow me to log in?

Since upgrading to Windows 10, I can only access my Yahoo email using Microsoft Edge. When I try to access in Firefox or Google Chrome, my access is denied. I've tried clearing cookies, browser history, rebooting my router, etc. Any ideas I can try?

I can't seem to figure out how to get my new Lenovo Yoga Tablet to accept keyboard shortcuts on Firefox. Is there some setting I'm missing? I can't do things like ctrl + t or ctrl + w--ctrl + a seems to work though! My device is in desktop mode and these shortcuts work in the chrome browser.

I have Thunderbird set up with various POP accounts to act as an aggregator, bringing all email into one Inbox.

Most of the accounts are hotmail or gmail accounts.

When searching on terms, it will bring up old emails and the location given is "Inbox".

These emails are however not in my combined Inbox. I have gone through the Local Folders structure and there is no other folder names Inbox.

Is there a means to access these emails and either recover them or properly deleted them?

my firefox keeps getting completely deleted from my system after repeatedly reinstalling and having it get delited from my windows 11 system i installed with administrator permission and the installation lasted for two days now this morning after working for about an hour it crashed twice on the third attempt to open it i found that it had been deleted what do reckon i do

Thunderbird was recently upgraded to version 140.2.1esr on my computers. It's working fine on my Windows 11 box, but on my Mac Book Pro (M3, Sonoma 14.6.1) it is having some problems.

Sometimes it will take more than 10 minutes to download the messages from my main gmail account, and then when the message headers appear in the Inbox, it may take another 30 to 45 minutes (or more!) to actually download the message contents. This just takes way too long.

Is there some way I can speed up this process? Can I go back to the previous version of Thunderbird?

I have installed Thunderbird on Windows, configured a number of accouns in IMAP and POP format.

After using them for a while it becomes evident that POP accounts do not show the SPAM folder.

What can I do to fix that easily?

I recently got into Bazzite and I'm currently working on understanding and migrating to this OS, one of the things that got my attention is the PiP mode, which by default doesn't stay on top of other windows, and that made me think about the whole purpose of this functionality to begin with, anyway this led me to think about my best idea ever which is to add "some option" in which the user can choose what is his preferred PiP window behavior and set it as default, so he don't go through all the process again and again.
