Firefox 11 crashed when I tried to print-to-file any page that included graphics as a pdf; printing as a ps printed only 1 page.

Firefox 12 no longer crashes, but any page at nytimes.com creates a pdf or ps with black boxes where the pictures are. print preview looks right. So I still use Opera to do this.

Unlike Firefox 11 I can properly print-to-file some pages that include pictures at other websites, such as pages at mozilla.org.

Hello RandomTroll,

you should read the following articles to troubleshoot the problem: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Problems_printing_web_pages and [printing troubleshooting]

Thank you for your patience and please let me know how it goes.

Of course I read the troubleshooting documents and FAQs and tried everything before I asked.

Seems to be fine here on Linux with printing to PDF.

Does it help if you enable printing background images in the print options?

Neither 'printing background images' nor 'printing background colors' makes a difference.

I tried Adobe's help page, in case it was a problem with Acrobat. I printed its help page: some images came out black boxes, some correctly. They're all PNGs. I'll try to figure out other differences. xpdf shows black boxes too.
