I can't logon to sites using Firefox 12.0; clicking button does nothing, it's locked/frozen.

'''''I can't logon to sites. After filling out the username and password, when I click on the "Log ON" button nothing happens. It's just like clicking on a random spot.

I have tried: flushing the cache, removing all cookies related to the site, clearing history, site pref, etc. No joy.

Your help would be appreciated.

This is a barely hours old new install of FF 12.0. It is up to date.

I see your problem. Your useragent got messed up big time. Your useragent is a line of text that identifies what browser you are using. Alot of websites look for this and if they don't find something they recognize they break or turn blank or possibly cause other weird issues. Your UA says: undefined GoogleToolbarBB So it looks like the Google Toolbar caused this. You need to reset it.

To reset the useragent:
Type about:config into the url bar and hit enter. Click on the I'll be Careful button. Then type useragent in the filter or search box. If any settings appear in bold, right-click them and choose Reset. Then close Firefox to save the changes.

To see the same instructions but with screenshots:
Websites incorrectly report firefox outdated or incompatible

Disabling Add-ons:
If that's not the issue, try disabling the HP Smart Web Printing addon. I always remember hearing about weird issues with this addon about 2 years ago. I don't know if they cleaned up their act since then. Anyway you could also try Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled and see if that cures your problems. If so, you could enable each add-on one by one until you find the add-on causing the problem. Make sure to restart Firefox each time you enable a addon.

Let us know which add-on it was if you find out so we can spread the word.

Erasing cookies.sqlite:
Another last resort in case all of the above fails, is to delete your cookies.sqlite file. It may have become corrupted. This step is different from clearing cookies with "Clear Recent History". After you delete this file, Firefox creates a new one to store all your cookies.

The site (among others) that I am having this issue with is MyFax. When I couldn't log on with FF I wrote them. They have replied that they have a number of users reporting the same problem with FF 12.0.

Apparently this issue is not limited to just me. Anyone have any suggestions?

Noah,

Dead on! Right with the first suggestion. It was the useragent setting that was the problem. Working great now.

Not sure how it happened. I haven't had Google toolbar for quite a while, about 6 or more updates ago. I will pass you solution on to the MyFax support.

Thanks,

Bob
