The bookmarks tab appears but I have lost the ability to add a bookmark.

When I want to save a site as a bookmark I click on the "bookmarks" tab and click "bookmark this page". It use to give me the field that describes the site, now the drop down just disappears. All of my previously saved bookmarks have also disappeared.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
