A "Bookmarks" window has appeared on the left edge of my screen. How do I get rid of it?

On the left edge of my screen, under all the bars, is a box with a black label "Bookmarks". Under the label is a search box, and under that are 3 dropdown entries, Bookmarks Toolbar, Bookmarks Menu, and Unsorted Bookmarks. Since there are other places I can get these tools, I want the space back that this thing is taking up. How do I get rid of it?

Thanks very much. Where does one learn such things:)?

I have a close box so I can close it with a mouse click. My problem is that the sidebar appears when I open a new window with a 'right click - open in new window' link. My question is "How can I prevent the sidebar from appearing in the first place?"

Thanks - I thought it might have been an option. I deleted and reinstalled and all is good.
