Oddly appearing and formatted emails (bitdefender)
I have Thunderbird 140.1.1esr (64-bit).
See the attached image. Just today emails started to show up oddly: 1) in the list view there is no subject or correspondent and 2) the message body begins with some message headers in text format and is followed by the HTML message source in text format (i.e. the message's HTML code).
I use an Earthlink POP3 server. These odd messages look fine when I access them via Earthlink's webmail interface. Even so, I suspect this is an Earthlink server issue, but maybe someone using a different email server has seen the same odd behavior?

Uninstalling and reinstalling Bitdefender did not fix the issue for me.
In that case, In Bitdefender -> Protection -> Online Threat Prevention -> toggle off the setting Encrypted web scan. Restart computer and Thunderbird.
Are new messages better?
If not, then Help > Troubleshoot Mode better?

In response to Wayne's query, it happened on two earlier versions of Thunderbird as well.
So going back two months?
Or only a couple weeks or days ago?

Same problem as others, started today. Seems to impact pop and not imap.
So only a pop account is affected? Starting immediately upon updating to version 140.1.1 and not before?
Also,
What AV software and extensions are used?
I'm using BitDefender Total security, but extension has been deleted in Thunderbird with no improvement
Uninstalling Bitdefender and reinstalling seems to have solved the problem.
BiDefender Total security looks to be the problem.

I uninstalled Bitdefender. That resolved the issue. Before that, I tried to shut off Bitdefender services one by one to see if there was a particular service that was causing the problem, but even shutting down every service I could didn't work. Completely uninstalling Bitdefender appears to have gotten my POP server back on line.
Thank you Wayne. Turing off encrypted web scan seems to have fixed the issue.
