Is there a way to recover my custom containers after disabling and re-enabling the Multi-Account Containers extension?

I use the Multi-Account Containers add-on, and I had about a dozen custom containers.

Earlier today, while investigating a potential browser bug, I disabled the Multi-Account Containers add-on to verify the bug is not caused by it. (It wasn't.)

Then I re-enabled the Multi-Account Containers add-on, only to find that my custom containers are gone. I was not expecting this :(

Is there a way to recover those custom containers, and related data such as rules for which sites should be opened in them?

There are these two prefs on the about:config page that deal with retaining extension data when uninstalling, but I don't know if this works for MAC as this is about containers (containers.json and userContextId).

  • extensions.webextensions.keepStorageOnUninstall
  • extensions.webextensions.keepUuidOnUninstall

You can Sync MAC data to other devices connected to this Sync account.
