No longer able to change size of Thunderbird relative to my desktop
I have just upgraded to Thunderbird 60.0 due to daily crashes with v 52.9, and appear to have lost all control over how much screen real estate the app takes up relative to my desktop size, and the size of non-zoomable font elements.
Stuff that used to work: - the Theme and Font Size Changer (even the "unofficial non-expire" version) add-on - editing "layout.css.devPixelsPerPx" in the config editor - setting "font-size:" in the "chrome/userChrome.css"
None of these seem to have any effect any more. I see lots of people posting similar questions this year, but can't find reliable answers for 60.0 onwards.
This is a major issue for me, it basically makes a 4K screen unusable for my eyesight and workflow.
Any suggestions for what *will* work, or pointers on how to fix/re-enable any of the above ?

Partly, thank you, I needed to update to version 64.4 of TFSC. Doing that and making the change you describe helps to the extent of letting me change font size.
However, it won't let me adjust the zoom to other than integer values, and neither this, nor my preferred solution, layout.css.devPixelsPerPx change the zoom at all.
Unfortunately I've never been able find find any other Preference settings that do what I want. It's Thunderbird as a whole I need to zoom out, i.e the same number of row/columns of message headers and folders, but taking up less X * Y pixels on the desktop.
Looks like run_scaled will do this, thank you, but some assembly required...

It was also updated on Oct 7.
These versions appear to have a working zoom again, thanks. I can now use layout.css.devPixelsPerPx in the config editor to zoom out again. However, the TFSC add-on won't accept zoom values less than 100%, so can only be used to zoom in, not out. Being able to do this via the add-on is not critical for me so long as there's some way to do it, but I think it used to be able to do this.
