Over last week netflix will not run on firefox

Over the last week (Oct 2017) Netflix has not run under Firefox in my Windows 10 system although Firefox has done well before and I can still get Netflix to run on microsoft edge. When on Firefox the screen turns black and there are no controls. Other programs seem to run fine.

Past solutions to others with the same problem have suggested going to menu and clicking on "plugins" and then changing options for shockwave flash, but there is no "plugin" option available in the menu options I have for Firefox. "add-ons" might have been a rename of the same thing, but this menu item seems to give irrelevant choices.
