I have Windows 7 desktop. When I click on the icon to open Firefox a UAC box pops up asking "do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer?" Says Program Name: Firefox Software Update, Verified Publisher: Mozilla Corporation, File Origin: Hard drive on this computer. I answered yes once and had to restore to a previous restore point. This UAC box pops up each time I click on the icon to open Firefox. Please help!!!

Some protection programs don't like the update/install stubs. Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link}

You are correct to check on this file. For about 8 months, fake Firefox and other "update" notices have been flooding the web. But I think yours may be real. If you want, you can;

My version of Firefox is up-to-date. Unfortunately this did not resolve the issue. Any other suggestions I can try?

I installed Firefox Setup Stub 50.1.0.exe. This still does not fix the problem. Is there something else I can try???? Or should I uninstall then reinstall Firefox?
