Because of a disk crash I needed to reload Thunderbird. Since then I can not open an attachment prior to sending a message to which is attached. What's wrong

In my prior Thunderbird mail program I could view my attachment prior to sending and a confirmation box would open prior to sending. Now not at all. I could also edit attached items (word docs) from the attachment window in the upper right hand corner of the mail program. Not now.
