IRC message alerts based on keywords

Thunderbird will pop up notifications if your nick name is mentioned in an IRC conversation.

I was wondering whether there is a way to specify some custom keywords/expressions that could also trigger notifications. If not, I guess this could 'easily' be done by an extension. I'd be more than happy to spend some time getting used to the way in which Thunderbird extensions work and prepare one myself.

Hi Luci.

AFAIK, there is no option build in Thunderbird to do this. But if you would like to start working on an add-on, the best place to start should be https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Add-ons/Thunderbird. And as for the chat, it has been "ported" from Instantbird, so you might want to contact the team.

Cheers, Michal

Hi Michal,

Thanks a lot for feedback. Marking this as solved for now and I guess I'll come with a follow up when it's done, perhaps it will help others as well.
