I am trying to add a new identity, I already have 3, so perhaps there is a limit? I have created the identity under manage identities with no problems. However, the new identity does not appear in Thunderbird, where the others are. The address is not recognized, and does not receive emails. I feel like I have missed a fundamental step but have followed the help instructions & cannot see what I am doing wrong. Ive checked and the program is up to date. I hope someone can offer advice thanks Anne

A few months ago I posted a question on these message boards after losing my ability to receive, send or even review messages/e-mails. For 3 months I was unable to access my e-mail. And I'm not certain hoe they are related, but after a hard drive failure, The only files that could be seen on the hard drive was a file folder labelled Wondershare. I downloaded a Wondershare program (Recoverit) after all my archived messages were wiped from my computer as this was the recommendation from members on the open threads at Mozilla.

While I appreciated the help from the members of this community, Thunderbird has again destroyed my ability to access any e-mails. The Thunderbird program is telling me that the settings that it took me 3 months to finally sort out are no longer operative.

Total garbage, I am not an experienced computer user, and would never have signed up for Thunderbird had I known this platform had no customer support and prone to these sort of failures.

Can anyone help me open my e-mails and move them to a program where I don't have to put up with such nonsense?

Operating system Windows 10. I have Thunderbird installed on three computers. Two on Windows 10 and one on Windows 11. I have two accounts Helen and Kevin. I have no problems with my Kevin account on the there computers. The error only occures with my Helen account and only on the Windows 10 computers. Not the Windows 11 computer. Can you fix this?

I have used Thunderbird for years with few problems. This evening when I opened it, my inbox was completely empty. I tried all of the suggestions of recovery tools, etc. Nothing worked.I logged in to google and checked my inbox there. Also empty. I recovered most of my emails from the All Mail folder but wonder what caused the problem so I don't see it again.

Moving numerous emails in one account

I am using Thunderbird 152.0 in Win 11.

I am trying to move about 100 emails from one folder to another in the same account. 1. I have selected all those emails to move and dragged them to the new location. One email moves. 2. I have selected all those emails to move, right clicked and selected Move to/email account/different folder. One email moves.

These methods used to work and all emails selected would move. For some reason they don't move except one.

What am I doing wrong now?

Neither my wife nor I can access email on our respective PCs. This has been the case for four weeks. We can access email by our Android phones, but we really want to use our PCs. I've tried to resolve the problem and failed. Previous to this failure, I had an account with BT but this was transferred to EE. When I attempt to log in to my mail account, I receive the message "Could not connect ... :the connection was refused". I can also add is that in my Account settings, Outgoing Mail server I see a message "Connection to server mail.btinternet.com:465 failed."

Why doesn't Thunderbird have a recall feature where I can recall and given sent email like those in Outlook and Exhange has?

You know there is good reasons for wanting that ability and be supprised to see how many people wish they didn't send that email.

Hi, a long-time Thunderbird user here using 140.11.1esr (64-bit) Thunderbird for Linux Mintmint-001 - 1.0 with e-mail set up as IMAP for a hotmail.com e-mail.

I'm having (and always have tbh) had problems with saving only one copy of "Sent" e-mails and it's driving me scatty. In "Thunderbird setup" for my hotmail.com account, I always de-select "When sending messages, automatically Place a copy in "Sent" folder" as I know my Hotmail account does that and then Thunderbird will pick that up to store locally as part of the IMAP syncing. I get, as expected, only one "Saved" copy which is fine.

Then, for no apparent reason, I suddenly start to get duplicates even though the "de-select" is still there in Thunderbird setup for the account. The cure seems to be to select it as if I want 2 copies and send myself a test e-mail, then de-select it again so I only get one at which point I only get one copy again. It then works fine for weeks (or months!!!) then, bang, 2 copies start appearing again with nothing (seemingly) changed.

I also have a gmail.com account set up as IMAP which never changes - I've always only ever got one "Sent" copy as expected. Clearly, this points to some sort of weird Thunderbird/Hotmail config issue which is odd as the "mechanics" of Thunderbirds internal handling of copies should not be affected by the remote e-mail and yet the issue is with hotmail.com but never with gmail.com accounts. As a Comms/Radar engineer it's really got me!

Anyone else seen this and, if so, are you able to tell me what's up? What am I doing wrong? It's very odd. Cheers!

I finished building my Linux PC yesterday. I got Linux Mint, all that good stuff. But when I try to log into Thunderbird Mail with my iCloud account, it says it's in the database and I select IMAP and then it says "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password."

All of a sudden, I go to send an email on one account. and Account I use on people I do not trust yet, And ALL OF A SUDDEN, the email is put in my Most protected email account, as sent. And when I LOOK, the sent email has BOTH emails as "FROM". Talk about insecure and a violation.

Now my IMPORTANT and PROTECTED email is out there with people I don't trust so much. Thanks. Is it from a recent Botched Update?

First time it happened - took laptop tp local computer repair shop -they told me they turned off 'VPN" and it startedf sending email.

Then stopped again - it seemed after Thunderbird update. Took back to shop - person that fixed it was working there any longer.VPN is off Thunderbird version is 140.12
