lost the ability to close tab on the tab
my tabs no longer have a close option on the tab (the 'X' doesn't appear on my tabs) I must close from the pull down.

Firefox hides the close X on the first tab by default and also hides the close X on not selected tabs if you open that many tabs that scroll buttons appear.

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.
