I have started having a problem with the "create new message button". It is permanantly highlighted and will not let me compose a new meassage.

Does that also happen in Troubleshoot mode (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/safe-mode-thunderbird)?
Does ctrl-n start a new message?
