I don't think there's really a guide anywhere for those. Is there a specific setting you're looking for?

In general too many variables and not enough time. Lots of potentially good stuff here but but progress is hampered by the basic developers failure to document.

Specifically I am working through the config for the tiles or now top sites. I am trying to get back to something more pre-quantum (52-56 range) where it seemed like unlimited rows which dynamically resized a fixed tile to the screen width. So trying to understand these variables: browser.newtabpage.

There are lots and lots of preferences and not all are even listed on about:config because a default value is assumed when you haven't set them yourself.
