I am asked to update every time I open Firefox and that's been going on for a year. I have no idea what version I'm now using even though I have updated it numerous times.

My firefox browser crashes and is almost unusable. I'm on windows 10 and the only thing that has been updated in months is Firefox. I do not believe in upgrading computers and have surgery schedule in a couple of weeks so buying a new computer isn't feasible right now. I've used firefox since I bought my first computer and I want it back.

I've had a problem for a while where Firefox tells me "Firefox is being updated by another instance" and the only way I've been able to get updates is by using the installer.

In my attempts to resolve this, I learned of the `about:profiles`. I have never set up profiles so I figures I should only have the 1 default profile but it turns out I have `default`, `default-release`, default-release-1`, and `default-release-2`.

Of these profiles, the `default-release` is the 1 that has my data while it is `default-release-1` that is able to update.

I would like to make it so that I only have 1 profile that has all of my data AND is able to update.

I already tried removing all the profiles accept the one with my data but that leaves Firefox unable to update. I restored all the profiles I removed and I am back to where I started.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I currently have Version 115.37.0esr (64-bit). When I click Check For Updates, it says I'm updated to the current version, but apparently the current version is 152.0.6. Why can't I get this version?

Since I upgraded from FF128-esr to FF140-esr I always get the "Firefox is being updated by another instance" This is really driving me crazy, as I checked / did / .... everything (and even more) I found on the internet related to that.

Nothing helps !

Creating and using a new default profile didn't help

Finally I ended up uninstalling FF completely (making sure no -zero- leftovers remained in ProgramFiles, AppData a.s.o.), and reinstalled FF140.7.0-esr freshly. After installation I started FF immediately with the created default profile (only existing one) --> SAME THING : "Firefox is being updated by another instance"

And this is really a FF140 thing, when I go back to FF128, on the same computer, same profiles, ...., the problem is gone.

I would like to know in detail what checks are really done by FF to decide to give that "Firefox is being updated by another instance"

today i open firefox ask me to reastart for a update i did it ask me to do instal a helper i did then i open it then agian on a loop i task me to intall a helper i did like 50 times hwo cna i jsut do the update and get otu fo the loop of intaling helpers for firefox

Every time I log on to Firefox, or attempt to use the brozser, I am asked to update Firefox. So I proceed to do the update download; The software refuses to do anything. So I continue with the old release. Apparently, this is a common problem. Yet Firefox staff continues to ignore the situation.

HOW DOES ONE UPDATE THE FIREFOX SOFTWARE?????

I am fed up having to update firefox every single day !! Is it not completing the update or is there some glitch that keeps occurring ??

I have used FF for quite a while and ignored MicroSoft Edge... but I dont know how much longer I can carry on with this slowdown !!

Origine du fichier: Disque dur de cet ordinateur." Pourtant dans les paramètres on indique que tout est à jour et aucune action n'est requise. Comment le flusher sans qu'il réapparaisse à tout moment et comment puis-je m'assurer que ce n'est pas de l'intrusion ?
