problems loading websites and firefox addons main website

i've just purchased a touchsmart all in one pc with windows 7. some websites like facebook won't load correctly (like just a few links, no normal home page) and when i try to load the firefox apps add ons page from tools it doesn't load the page normally. it says when i'm connected to the internet it will display them. any ideas how to fix this?
