I am clearing history exactly how it is instucted, yet no history is being cleared out.?,Help me

I open the clear browsing history box. Then I choose "today" Then I open details and select just the top categorie, ( the browsing sites", then I hit "clear" Then I check and nothing was cleared Help me?
