Have tried your solutions but still cannot save a bookmark.

Star will not turn blue. Tried clicking Bookmarks in toolbar and "Bookmark This Page" but nothing happens, or if it IS bookmarked, I have no idea where it went.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
