The normal behaviour for Firefox is to open a blank tab, it needs an add-on to change that behaviour. Check your add-ons to see if any have changed this for you. If necessary you can follow the procedure in this link - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
