XPCOM errors usually are fix by a simple reinstall of Thunderbird. I do not know what causes the Mozilla platform to issue the error, but I suspect it is caused by corruption of the update process by other software like an antivirus product.
The bad image also appear to be related to file corruption or disk corruption.
