After the update, the 153.0.2esr program writes about an authentication error when connecting to imap.yandex.com. Please tell me what has changed and how to fix it.

Thunderbird stopped downloading gmail this morning. It worked fine yesterday. I've restarted it 3 times to no avail. It says "Connected to imap.googlemailcom..." and it's been saying that for 2 1/2 hours now. Please help.

And please respond in non-tech terms. I am an old lady and I don't understand any of the stuff in the "help" section of your website. Still running Win10 because I can't handle the learning curve to 11. Please and thank you.

Hello, from time to time my Thunderbird on my desktop PC running windows 10 doesn't receive emails, while they arrived on my I Phone 8. Checked my Telstra web mail, all emails are there so what is stopping getting to my desktop PC? I thought the Thunderbird receives emails than synchronize with my I Phone? As you can see from my 2 images the Telstra is up to today as is my I phone But Thunderbird is 3 days beyond. Tomorrow it may back to normal or the next day? I am returning to this message the next day 16/06/2026 1 more message on my I Phone, still nothing on my Thunderbird.

An other problem I get with Thunderbird is that a message appears on the right bottom of my screen: "Mozilla Thunderbird Connection to server mail.bigpond.com timed out" and/or "failed to connect to mail server imap.telstra.com" If I try to send an email after the above notifications, I get the "Connection Refused". I know than to just walk away. I am using Starlink as Telstra here doesn't work as I am on the fringes of Melbourne in a BLACK HOLE. Any help will be gratefully received. Thank you for reading this. Why is Thunderbird consatntly coming up with "Authentification failure while trying to connect to server outlook.office365.com"? It never used to and would download my hotmail emails perfectly until about a month ago. This is very frustrating, I have removed my hotmail account from thunderbird and re installed it, works for ocassionally the back to same old message authentification failure. What is going on with thunderbird?153.02

My account setting correctly are set to store send mail in send of the account. Now: - Shoud be: a send mail goes always there - Is A send mail goes sometimes to the local send folder

Pleas, tel me how to corect that.

I need a filter on a message to FULLY FINISH before a next message starts to be filtered. The "help" (quotes because it's an abyssal crap) says that simply ending the filter with Stop Filter Execution does it - but that's simply NOT TRUE: calling a console program in the filter, I can see five DOS boxes opening at the same time with five messages matching, i.e. the filters on the next message DID NOT wait! So... what can I do??

All of the above is because I'm getting "Too many simultaneous connections on the server". I'd like to limit the concurrency, but it only seems to be possible in IMAP, while this connection is a POP. Why only IMAP??!

Sometime ago, Thunderbird stopped being able to connect with my GMail and Hotmail email accounts. I guess this had something to do with the change to OAuth authentication. I then switched over to Yahoo accounts which worked perfectly until last night when I installed the latest update, i.e. 153.0.1esr (Meadow). Now, I cannot connect with ANY account whatsoever. Thunderbird just stopped working in my two Windows 10 laptops and it does not seem to work on the Windows 11, either, although I have only tried Gmail accounts on that one (without the update), as I cannot possibly be left without an email handler.

If I try to download my emails, I get a screen that tells me that I should “Turn-off ad blockers“ and “Enable JavaScript“ in my browser, but I have tried several (4) browsers as default with the same result. I don’t have either ad blockers or cookie restrictions in any one of them and JavaScript is enabled in all (it is now by default).

I have downloaded and installed “eM Client” and it works *perfectly*. However, I would loathe to have to abandon Thunderbird and get used to an entirely new program, but which is what I will have to do if this thing is not resolved ASAP.

As mentioned, I think there has to do with the OAuth authentication system.

I have even tried ChatGPT, without success!

And there is no way to revert to the previous version !!!!!

Please do something NOW, or it is, regrettably, goodbye Thunderbird!

Hi folks, I'm a happy Thunderbird user since more than 20 years.

I just updated my TB to Version V.153.0.1esr.

Then I want to compose an eMail and suddenly I recognized the two Menus with File, Edit, View and Send.... Attach are gone.

Normally from the top to the buttom I see the following menu lines: 1. Write: (no subject).... 2. File Edit View... 3. Send........ and Attach at the end 4. From.. 5. To... 6. Subject 7. The line with Paragraph etc. 8. The area to put my email text in

The lines 2. and 3. are fully gone.

Can you please give an answer how to reactive the lines 2. und 3. during composing an eMail?

Why am I getting this message when I try and send an email from my Mozilla email client: Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.gmail.com timed out. Try again.

I can't get Thunderbird to stop updating. My installation is currently set as follows:

Settings > Updates > "Check for updates, but let me choose whether to install them."

That was done around the 21st July, and the version=152.0.1. I was never prompted to update. When I checked today (27th July) version=153.0 and Settings remains the same (as above).

The setting is being ignored. Is there a workaround? Like setting up my installation to deny access to something. (Maybe, like if the update process needs a certain directory to be present, remove the directory.)

I have been trying to transition my Comcast.net email to Yahoo email mandated by Comcast. I have been using Thunderbird as an POP account for years with the comcast.net account. When sending emails through Thunderbird, I was prompted to enter my Comcast.net password. It worked fine. With the transition to Yahoo, my email password did not allow the Yahoo email to flow thru to Thunderbird. Yahoo stated that I need a four block with spaces, and 4 digits each block, Yahoo APP System generated password. When I keyed in that APP Password, everything would flow through. one time, Next time I want receive or send and email, I needed to key in the App Password. Yahoo stated that once entered it I would not have to use their system generated APP Password. Unfortunatley there was nowhere to save that password in Thunderbird. Yahoo then told me to remove and re-enter my Yahoo Account in Thunderbird.

I deleted the old profile that was originally my profile for Comcast.net and editied to the new Yahoo details, and started reestablishing that profile with the Yahoo Incoming Mail and outgoing smtp server information, Unfortunately upon re-entering my Yahoo information I have lost of of the existing emails/folders. that I had in Thunderbird. Now what do I do to recover all of those old emails & folders?? Help! I still have to use the original email address that has been converted to Yahoo. Any way to go back to Comcast to recover the data that consituted those old emails, or are they just lost?

hello, i cannot seem to find a solution online, hopefully someone can help.

i often receive emails with images attached, and most of the time people don't resize their images. you can imagine over time this all adds up in the email storage folder total size.

i dont always need to keep a 6mb image version, it can be reduced after i am done.

i would like a method to resize the received emails image attachment, to at least still have a smaller copy for refence, but not end up with a huge thunderbird email account profile (in the email received not externally saved)

preferably a one click solution, or even a routine i can run on the file system, etc. or some way to edit the received email and its attachment in program.

I keep getting alert notices on my phone from thunderbird. It started when i was going to add thunderbird to one of my other devices. But i changed my mind and deleted it on that device.

Thunderbird display messages in boxes arranged horizontally accross the top of the screen. How do I change that displAy to a list of messages listed from the top of the page to the bottom
