Hello! Is it possible to recover older open tabs from a broken device that had sync activated? For a while they appeared in the hamburger menu in the top right, but now they suddenly disappeared, and under the "connected devices" I cannot click the device or anything. It went broken 2-3 months ago. Best wishes!

Hi s.ruff,

if Firefox Sync was enabled, there’s still a chance the tabs can be recovered, but synced tabs from inactive devices can disappear after some time.

Try signing into the same Firefox account and check about:sync-tabs or the synced tabs section from the hamburger menu again.

If the broken device no longer appears under connected devices, the tabs were most likely removed from Sync after the device stayed offline for too long. Best wishes!

Thank you! Sadly, for about:sync-tabs, nothing appears at all, just "This address doesn't seem to be correct. Firefox can't connect with this server." Also in the hamburger menu, I don't see any "synced tabs" section.

I apologize for the previous response that contained incorrect information.

  1. Solution

Unfortunately, if “Synced Tabs” are no longer visible and the device is no longer listed among your connected devices, it is not possible to recover them through Firefox Sync.

You can still try the following:

  • Go to Menu → History → Tabs from other devices
  • Sign in again with the same Firefox account on another active device
  • Make sure that “Open Tabs” syncing is still enabled in your account settings
  • Check if the tabs are available on any other device still connected to your account

If the device has been offline for a long time and was removed from the list of synced devices, the tab data may no longer be available.
